All I get is one click from the relay

I have a 1993 Sportster 1200, new battery fully charged, lights are on and when trying to start it all I get is a click from the relay. where are the fuses? The bike has sat for a few months, any suggestions?

Thank you!

i bellieve it is the relay, not fuses. if it didnt click then maybe a fuse. clean all connections related to the starting circuit. start with the battery and work your way to the starter, this includes all the grounds also.....

bad connection like hurricane chuck mentioned, or solinoid/relay contacts pulling but not connecting, or the relay/sol is just plain bad, battery just dropping out (bad cells) although its new and shows full charge, you can load test it, if you have a multimeter you can check your voltage drop in each section of you starting circut, you might have corrosion packed cables if they have never been changed causing high resistance to the starter, just some more thoughts to look at after if chucks leads get exausted. good luck and let us know what you find

If you have a multimeter, check the "50" or flag terminal on the end of the starter. When you hit the starter button and hear the relay click, you should get 12 VDC at the green wire for the flag terminal. If there's no juice you won't energize the solinoid to turn the starter. If you do have the 12 volts but don't get the starter to turn you either have a bad ground or the contact inside the solinoid is so pitted that it won't make contact to spin the starter.
