Hello All,
I'm eagerly awaiting a March 05 arrival of my new Electra Glide Classic! I've had a few HD's but not a bike with a radio. My last bike was a Road King, NICE bike!

OK enough rambling...I'm looking to change the exhaust on the new bike that will have a deep and throaty sound but not real loud (still want to hear the radio). I don't want a tinny sound like the Sampson slip on's I wasted money on back in 99 for the Road King, which have been lying on my garage shelf ever since!

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey Cracker,
I ride a TC88 Electra-Glide with a 52 watt Sony stereo and Rockford Fosgate speakers. The stock exhaust is the greatest for listening to the stereo because it is so darn quiet. BUT...........I really like the fit, look, sound, and performance of the Rinehart system for the touring models. They also leave you plenty of options for baffles to fine tune the system to fit your ear. They are quieter than the Thunderheaders and IMHO perform a little better. (plus I like the True Duals)
Just remember that anything louder than stock is going to have an impact on the stereo enjoyment. I feel that I finally found the best of both worlds with the Rineharts.

I believe your first option is to improve the speakers on the bike, the stockers just don't carry the sound. Polk has a set that is a direct replacement and you can get them from Crutchfield for a pretty low price.

I believe they are DB525's

Then as far as pipes, 1) do the air filter and stage 1 upgrade along with the pipes in order to get the most out of the pipes. 2) If you want more sound without bothering the radio then closer to stock ie SE pipes are going to be the quiet loud pipes

Samsons are ok have a good sound Vance and Hines make a good quality slip on. IMHO slip ons are a good deal because you'll get a power increase and the cost is much less.

I have the Vance and Hines Oval Slip-ons on my dresser and absolutely love em. Much better sound then stock (louder) but not obnoxious. If you go to the Vance/Hines website...they have sound clips of this exhaust.

I'm leaning toward purchasing the Python slip ons that I've found out are made by Vance&Hines. What do ya's think? Does anyone know if there is any signifinant SOUND difference between the Pythons slash cut slip ons and the oval cut Vance&Hines slip ons?
