Has anyone installed Feuling oil pump and lifters in their twin cam ? I installed the pump and lifters a while back. There were no instructions concerning valve lash settings with the parts. I tried calling Feulings phone number but got a recording saying their number had been disconnected. I later read some stuff on the internet that the company was being sold. Anyway, does anyone know what the recommended valve lash setting is for their lifters. Any help is appreciated.

Thumbs up

Turn adjuster screw on pushrods until the pushrod has no vertical movement but still turns with light finger pressure. Turn adjuster screw 20 additional flats (approximately 3.5 full turns) to lengthen the pushrod and secure adjuster screw with locknut.

Best wishes.

UBERMENSCH,

Thanks for your reply. I originally set the lash at 3 turns so I guess I was in the ball park.

Hello Lowglide.

I also have the feuling pump and lifters in my FLHT. I relooked at the instructions last night. They recommend .090" to .100" preload. The maximum travel on the lifter springs is .200". Assuming the pitch on your pushrods is approximately 32 threads per inch (1/32 = .03125" x 3.5 turns = .1094"). You are slightly over the recommended .100". No big deal. Three turns is fine too. They should both work just fine.

I also installed the S & S gear drive camshafts (Andrews 26G) and delkron cam support plate, K&N and Vance and Hines Pro Pipe. Bought the cam tools and did the job myself. In hindsight, I wish I would have purchased the Thunderheader, but the V & H is a good pipe too. When the bike gets up to 2500 to 3000 rpm's it purs like a kitten.

When I set up my pushrods last year I found that the lash adjustment depended on what brand and how many threads per inch the rods were made with...I'd check with the manufacturer of your pushrods...I don't have the reference handy, but I believe screaming eagle adjustable rods were 3.5 turns out from zero lash.
