Question LED fuel gauge

I am looking at an LED fuel gauge that a buddy of mine bought and never used that is still in the box and I can get a cheap deal on. Its Part # 75073-04. My local dealer parts and service pepople tell me it will fit my 92 dyna, but they say the wiring my be a problem. It might work or show full all the time, or empty all the time. Any one tried this before ? I would appreciate any feed back.

my question is, will the dealer explain the problem??? will they give you the correct way to wire it??? if not i would check another dealer. if they know the problem, they should be able to help you with it. i would not want to attempt to wire something that is going to be trial and error,,,,especially with led's. one bad connection and your money is wasted...........
