Thanks for the link. I wonder if this set up is significantly better than the spring loaded tensioners. I had my tensioners replaced, under extended warranty at 45000 kilometers, more than likely will have to be done again in another 20 thousand or so. The thing that confuses me is that there is a wide range of when the tensioners go south. Maybe some chains have a sharper edge than others or the spring tension varies greatly. All I know is that some bikes chewed through them in a hurry and some others lasted quite a few miles. My bike has mostly highway miles two up pulling a trailer, used syn 3 from the first oil change. The tensioners were about 50 per cent worn. The bike's been great otherwise.

actually the problem is because of the amount of tension on the shoes. even with the camplate pulled the cams cannot be turned by hand due to the tremendous pressure exerted by the springs. a hydraulic setup will gain you a bit of hp even if you dont change anything else...or going to geardrive. the excessive pressure is what wears the shoes, and no one can determine the the amount of time until they wear out.......only periodic checking will tell you that.
