Help

Hi my name is jack i just recently bought a 04 yammaha R6 from a private owner when i bought the bike i didnt get the red key which i found out is ment to come with the bike and just last week i lost my only key, i went upto yammaha to ask for a new key thinking it would be simple and easy, but i was miss informed, yammaha told me that even though i can show full paperwork and ownership of the bike that they cannot get me a new key and immobilser without the red key, i must now fork out $2200 for a new ignition barrel and immobiliser, im a uni student and its taken me a year to save up for my bike which cost me $8500 If anyone can help me in anyway let me know
