After I got my 98 FatBoy, I jetted the carb, added V&H pipes and K & N air filter. I now have a EFI Ultra Classic and want to make it heard with similar build. I'm more on a budget now, and this will work out better if I do them seperately. Do I need to do all three things at the same time, or can I just change the air flow, then pipes, then Power Commander? Or the same things in a different order? Thanks!

If you want to do your upgrades in steps it is pretty simple. The first step would be a Stage I aircleaner and Stage I download which will cost around $90 for the aircleaner, $149 for the down load and the dealer will hit you with an hour labor. Next would be the exhaust. If you go with most of the popular slip on mufflers you probably will not have to do anything else, If you decide to go with any of the 2 into 2 dual exhausts or 2 into 1 headers you will also have to buy either a Screaming Eagle Race Tuner or Power Commander to richen up the fuel curve. At this stage you might get lucky and be able to match an off the shelf download, but to get the best performance means a trip to the DYNO. You might instead try a Digital Fuel Optimizer(DFO)/Techlusion Fuel Optimezer(TFO) or any of the other so named optimizers that allow you to adjust the fuel by dailing in the fuel mixture much like a carb instead of having to put on the race tuner or Power Commander. The optimizers are under $200 compared to $3-4 hundred for the others.
