Backfire

what causes backfire and sputtering on 3/4 throttle?
1200 sportster spoort, 4 plugs ,2 ignition coils, 2003

quite a few things will cause those problems......need a bit more info........
also your factory service manual has a trouble shooting guide in it.....best tool in your tool box!!!!!!!

I would bet you have something shorting,

Check grounds on battery to frame be sure you have a good connection.

Check all other connections as well including the plug wires and the plugs for damage, there can be slits in the wires that you can't see with your eyes at a glance, pull them and check each inch by inch look for a cut that could open under hard throttle and arc the plug

If you have chrome plug covers to make the plugs fancy, remove them, I've seen them touch the engine under hard throttle and cause the bike to misfire under acceleration (mine are in a field somewhere outside daytona after I found them doing this lol)
