Well, I would say it might be your battery. Your local shop might just be trying to sell you a battery. It is very important that a new battery has a full charge on it when you install it on the bike, or it will never-ever charge to it's full potenial. With that said, I would check and make sure all my grounds are good and clean and secure. If that is all correct, then, your starter could be going out on you; pulling too many amps.
