Crankcase breather question

I'm looking into updating to a CV carb on my bike ( 89 FXRS ) . My breather hose looks like it comes from someplace by the oil pump and into the side of my air box. Looks like the later models vent from the rocker boxes through the bolts that hold the airbox to the heads ? Do they also vent from the crankcase ?
Will my stock air box work with the cv carb or is the bolt pattern differant ? If I want to use a harley air box what years would work with the type of breather I have ? I plan on swapping to the cv intake and throttle cables . Anything else I missed ?
thanks Darren

It has been a few years since I converted my old fxrs 85 to CV carb but I think it was a 90 91 or 92 was the years that they used that style of air cleaner and breather, when I needed mine it was obsolete parts and the dealer did a dealer search and found me one, hope this helps some, Todd

You're right Todd,90-91-92 bottom breathers with a CV carb. I would try to find a SE Breather kit and route the vent hose to the atmosphere instead of to the breather. If you have too much trouble finding a backing plate or SE kit, I think I still have the stock breather from my '90 kicking around.

Re: Crankcase breather question

Thanks guys,
I Just bought a cv carb , intake , and air breather from ebay . says it came from a 94 FLH (something) but the backing plate has the same fitting on the side for the breather hose that my original one has ?

Does anybody know if my original throttle cables will work ?

Re: Crankcase breather question

nope, cables wont work, at least they didnt on mine, I wish I would have known you were looking for a carb, a buddy of mine just sold his 98 dyna and he took his CV off and replaced it with a mikuni 42, so I have a CV carb and thunderslide kit and a whole bunch of other stuff off his dyna, Todd
