How much oil to add...FL rear air shocks

I bought some H-D "Profile-low" rear shocks off of e-bay & was wondering if I should top-off a 1/2 oz. or so with some hydraulic oil(what kind?).I'm concerned due to the small amount oil I noticed spit out during the air purge when I tested them.
Thanks in advance,00 wildglide

Re: How much oil to add...FL rear air shocks

I don't think you should just add a 1/2oz to one shock without knowing how much you lost, you'd want the same amount of oil in both. I was told the rear shock oil is a 5wt, there was a guy on another site that drained his low profile shocks and got 10oz's out of each of them and refilled with 10wt BelRay HVI Racing Suspension, BelRay told him not to use fork oil they said rear shocks get much hotter and would loose viscosity with fork oil. They recommended Bel-Ray HVI instead.
