replacing the choke cable does the carb have to come completely off and stripped? Does anyone have a breakdown diagram?

Re: 98 Wide glide

yes and no, kinda

Yes you have to remove it from the manifold, no you don't have to take it all the way apart, kinda take everything around it off, to get it done.

depends on your bike, room and ability.

1) loosen jam nut on back of choke cable
2) release cable from holder on bottom of tank.
3) remove seat
4) Loosen front and rear tank bolts, lift tank and shove a small board under the tunnel to hold it up off frame, tops of spray cans works well. THis should give you more room.
5) remove air cleaner, filter, baking plate and breather assembly from carb and heads.
6) remove carb by wiggling it back forth be careful not to tear the carb to intake seal.
7) remove cable from back of card with wrench. Replace as removed with new cable.
8 ) Reverse for reassembly.
