I have a 04 FLSTFI. I have added the harley removable backrest. I would like to do the same for my bags (removable). I have some throw overs but I want something a bit more stable. What system is best and do I also need to purchase special bags that go with the removable mounting system?

Before I bought my Electra Glide I used a product called Bare Backs on my 99 Softail. They worked great, I could have my bags on and off in a matter of minutes with no tools. I had Harley bolt-on saddle bags but I believe they can be used with other styles.

Ghost brackets and Bubbas Brakes make detachable hardware, check with DP on them.

I have Ghost Brackets on my 04 Fatboy, and they are really nice! They come with all mounting hardware, work with my detachable backrest, and have a really nice barrel locking mechanism.
