| I have a 01 flhr with a stage 2 kit and a holley carb.I also have a high performance fuel pump.While riding I get oil blowing out through my air breather.I've had it back to my dealer and was told that this is normal,but enough comes out so that the seat and the inside of my pants leg gets soaked.If anyone has any ideas as to what is causing this it woulb be very helpful.Please note that all parts on the bike are Scream'in Eagle |

| One thing that will make the oil come out especially at higher speed runs, is a missaligned oil pump, have you done cams, and did the problem start after that, you should have aligned the pump using evo tappet block alignment tools.
YOu can vent the upper rocker boxes to a separate line and run it down the frame behind the trans and put a small cci filter on the end to catch anything but until you align the pump you'll continue to have this problem. |

| My 99 would do this if I ran the oil level to high even at full. Mine was alot better if I ran the oil level lower closer to the add mark. |

Do you have both a separate line run and a line to the air cleaner? Let's start from scratch, You have two head breather bolts that are designed to both hold the carb on and allow for breathing through the hollow centers of the bolts i.e. Banjo bolts. In a stock configuration these are hooked directly into the breather system inside the plastic backing plate and are more or less hidden from view. Aftermarket or SE type air cleaners route the hoses either to the ground or into the backing plate.
You do not mention what cams are installed and what exhaust. Both play a huge part in a problem called reversion. Cams with large overlaps, high lift and duration and certain types of exhaust can cause an increase in reversion and at certain RPM's this causes a stand off cone in the intake and actually can push part of the charge back out the intake. The oil present is diluted and the gas / oil mix drips out the air cleaner and gets into the airstream. The gas evaporates quickly leaving a thin oily mess. The most common fixes are relocating the breather outlet as HRK says, lowering the oil level and checking the oil level AFTER you have run the bike for awhile or just before putting it away.
If you have the hoses routed to the ground and are still getting oil it is either coming out the intake (not good) or you have a leak somewhere else. |

| Mtmlion, Put your boot in that mechanics rear. Harley had a problem with 01 Road Kings. I know of two straight out of the factory with that problem. Bikes were just fine for the first 500 miles. As soon as they started running them hard, oil was streaming out of the air cleaner. Las Vegas Harley Davidson fixed both of them. The problem, misaligned oil pump. |

| I believe I have both hoses run...1 to the air cleaner...1 to the bottom of the frame.
I have Scream'in Eagle cams and Samson Silver Bullets installed for exaust.This exaust is from the header back with fishtails and no baffles.
It really sounds like I have this reversion problem,May be the misaligned oil pump too.I hope it's one of the two.they sound like the cheapest way out.
Do you know where I can get some good head pipes,or should I go with a complete exaust?
Thanks for the help.........my dealer dosen't seam to know about this. |

| Get the oil pump aligned first before you go spending money on pipes, cams etc.
Does it happen after long runs, on the highway more than just up and down the street?
To align the pump all you have is a cam cover gasket and a couple of hours labor. |

| It doesn't just do it up and the street,I'd say after 50 to 75 miles.Also mostly at higher speeds.........above 65 MPH. |

| No Doubt about it then, Oil Pump is missaligned, classic symptons are oil all over the bike after longer higher speed runs.
You need to go back and tell the dealer that installed it, there is a bulletin I beleive about this, they have to align it using EVO tappet block alignment tools,
Should be for free because they fubar'd.
Cam cover gasket, and drop the exhaust and floorboard to do it.
Shouldn't take all day.  |
