I built a custom softtail and I have 2000 miles on it. When I let out the clutch from a standing start and give a decent amount of gas I hear a squeal coming from primary. It seems to be coming from the rear of the primary so I think its the clutch. There is no squeal once I get going thru any other gears. Clutch does not slip and the bike pulls great. 100" revtech. Letting the clutch out slow with just a little gas does not squeal. Kind of embarrassing at a light. Nice looking bike but squeals like a hog Any thoughts?

The first thing I would check would be that you have the proper rear belt tension. Ride Safe David.

When I had my 1998 Fatboy I used to get the "squeal" when I would de-excellerate very quickly. I would have to tighten the rear drive belt. So try to tighten the rear belt a bit. But always keep in mind that if you overtighten the rear belt you could, over time cause your rear wheel bearings and primary bearings to fail. For a starting point try by forcing the rear belt upward, using only 10lbs of pressure, (Harley Davidson makes a tool for this purpose) the deflection upward on the rear belt should be between 1/4-5/16 of an inch. Also when doing this make sure that some one of equal weight to you sits on the bike.

the squeal on decelleration used to happen until the *(&^)&)( belt broke. took me hours to change it. Seems like the only thing i didnt have to take off were the spark plugs. I dont want it to happen again. I think ill invest in the tool. tried to "eyeball" it but apparently that is not working.
thx for the help.
