Uh, so where's the FXR's?

In my eyes there is no better bike to ride then an FXR. I have owned 10 bikes. Out of those 10. Only 5 have been Harleys. I had ridden 650 bonnevilles
in the early days. When I was young and could stand the shake, rattle and numb hands. That was my choice for running around the city. Then came that AMF sportster. Need I say anymore about that bike? Then I rode buds Dyna and then came what became my number 1 all around favorite bike for many reasons.
FXR LR was my bike for many reasons. First it handled better then any other bike. I was able to turn that low rider into a cruzer and take off to Mexico for a long weekend with the wife and all of her stuff. I had that bike for many years and it served me very well. All you needed to do was put your bags and shield on and load up.
Then there is the it factor. Ever count how many FXR's you see on any of the runs you go on?
We are the bastard children of Harley. The best bike ever made, hardly talked about. Unless you meet another FXR rider and the both of you have that We Know What's Happening Brother look at each other.
Yes, my fellow riders, if one day you get the oppertunity to ride an FXR, go for it. You will see what us FXR owners know.

Yes, At my age if momma is not happy. I am one miserable S.O.B. She knows me like she knows her hair. For any reason she is not in fine spirits for some reason I am the reason why. So yes we have to keep them happy. Gumby PEACE

This could be a new thread. What would you own if you could own 2 or 3 bikes at the same time?

I like my FLH, but I would also like to get that new blacked out VROD. And then, to really piss the neighbors off, I'd love to build my own 120hp, fat tire, chopper.

Then again, it sounds like too many oil changes going on and I would never be riding.

I'm an old FXR pilot.....what a bike that was....now I'm riding around on an Electra Glide..tunes, fairing, electric vest..

In my case I always set my FXR's as a cruzer. I ride with bags and a windvest. Neither of them take away from my bike. I like the idea of being able to pack the bags and be comfortable riding with the shield. Still having the fine handleing and looks of the best bike (in my eyes) HD ever made.
I know a guy who bought 2 of them and put them away in 99 and 01 when they made I think either 600 of each or 900 of each in two differant colors. If money allowed I probably would have gotten a newer one. I am old school and the 91 lets me have that old school feeling. Gumby Peace

I think if I ever replace the sporty, (cause the R/K will be an addition to) that I'll be trying to get an FXRS. For some reason they've kinda grown on me, too. I just don't need to sport type bikes right now...might WANT them, but don't need them. Just like Gumby said, I would be the source of irritation in my house if that ever happened....and I don't like the pain associated with being the source of irritation to a pocket pit bull that can have the temper of a case of TNT at times.....

YES, I aggree there are some that slipped through the cracks. That is why I call the FXR model. The bastard children of Harley. I never will understand why they stopped making them. Yes they brought them back in 99 and 01. I tell you though now that the sportsters are rubber mounted. They sure have made a great impression on me. Now if only they throw an evo in it. What do you get? thoughts to think about!!!! They always handeled well but I had a very bad taste for them because I had one from the AMF years. I got so tires of it I took $500.00 for it and walked away. Gumby Peace

Just remember that we work in our garages. You don't want to sleep in it. So yes the most important thing is keeping the Mrs. happy for sure. When that happens things seem to fall into place much ezier. If you find the right Fxr weather it be a P,LR,CS or whatever, if you pay the price for one thats done. It wont be a money pit. I just happened to have to play catch up with this one. My last one was taken very well cared for when I got her. I put over 65 grand on her without any major problems. I never got off that bike. I am going to try and figure out how to put a picture of her up. When my P is done then I will put her up. My LR still holds a very stong place in my heart. I sold her to an x HA and he changed her to his tastes. In my eyes she looks like crap now, but as long as the guy ridding her likes her thats all that matters. I am glad that no one knows it was my old bike. Except my guys that are around me now and him in calif. Gumby Peace

Never been good at all the abbrevations. 97 Softtail custom, no windshield, do carry bags, sissy bar for the current ol lady, Red with medium amount of chrome, bullet hole sticker on the right side tank to cover up a moon crater of dent. Not the best looking bike I saw in MB but it lives in the rider not trailer catagory of bikes.
Speaking of abbrevations, is there anywhere on line that I can look up and study up on all the models?

If You Can Go Into Any Harley Davidson Dealership And Look Into What They Have Now.
Then Go Back In Time And Start From Either The 60's On Up. I Would Punch Up Something Like "bikes Of Harley Davidson Years 1960 To 1970. Then Go From There. You Will See All The Changes In Style Of Rocker Boxes ,frames And So On. There Are Also Books At The Liberary You Can Just Sit There And See How The Evolved.

I bought my first Superglide back in '73...and it's been a continuing love affair. I have quick detach bags, windshield and sissy bar/rack combo. Add the sissy bar bag to that and I have all I need. Yet like this past weekend, get to the motel strip her down and voila.....I did the dresser thing but nice as it was it just wasn't me. As to choppers.....I have spent enough on hemmoroid surgery and chiropractors from riding rigid frame choppers "back in the day". And since I still think if you are going to a bike even you ride a bike, not have it chase you down the road on a trailer, I will stick with my beloved superglides. I do figure when I get so old I forget to put my feet down at red lights I will switch to a full dress trike.

Yes nothing better to get off your baby without those moans and groans you here from those other fellows. Nothing can beat shocks and rubber mounts in my eyes. Some ride to be seen and then there are those who ride to see the sceanery..GUMBY PEACE
