Currently, being pretty tied up w/ work, I'm not able to go for longer rides as I'd like to, but soon plan to get back to my regular 400-600 average monthly.

I'd certainly drive more miles if weather and job permitted. I work out of my home here in MI, when not on the road for the job. Love what I do and the people that I work for, so that kind of makes up for it. I am looking forward to retiring in 12 years, 6 months and 21 days (but who's counting  ) so that I can get more miles in. | |

It's only a 30 mile round trip to work and back so even if I'm able to ride every day thats only 150 a week. Most of my time in the saddle is spent on Sunday mornings when the roads are mostly clear and I hit the backroads in SC (no lid law) and just cruise and clear my mind. | |

| When I bought my FJR1300 3 years ago, I had averaged almost 1100 miles a month for over 7 years on my Royal Star (94k miles in 88 months). Now that I'm in full-time school, I don't get to take the long trips like I used to (that's gonna resume when I graduate next year)..I'm still getting quite a few miles in. When I went to Nevada State in Henderson to do my prerequisites for nursing school, i.e., Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry, etc..it was 50 mile round-trip 4 days a week..so still got close to 1000 miles a month. Now at UNLV..it's 15 mile round-trip, but I commute everywhere including the grocery store..except big items like at Home Depot. I have been to Sacramento, Yosemite and Reno this year on a bike..so still get out some.
Can't wait to cruise the US next Summer! | |

| 2.5 year old bike, stored for winter x2, shipped from over seas x1, and still over 16.5k on it.....put on a new back tire and did 10k service at the end of January..... I ride rain or shine...my primary commute vehicle, fun vehicle, and just plain old running around.... when I need to haul something or go with family, then the van. guess I must be....well, 6k, 9-10 months.....not quite 1k per month..... | |

Well got the new Superglide in late March and it has 7600 on her so far. I am lucky though I can ride a lot more than if I had a regular type job.

| have had my 06 eg for 12 months now. has 17,000 miles on it. 60 mile round trip just for gas.......its great to live way out in the woods.........

I had my bike up for 2 weeks before she went in for some head job. In those 2 weeks and a few days I put 300 miles on her. GUMBY PEACE | |

For those of you counting the days. I retired early and I sure do miss working.
I loved what I did and did it for 30 years. I did retire early at the age of 51.
If you don't have hobbies and don't get yourself time management skills.
you will be lost.
I woke up at 4:30 A.M to go to work for 30 years. It was hard to change habits there for awhile.
You do find a groove eventually. The most important thing is getting along with the wife if she is home also. GUMBY PEACE | |

I ride to work and back year round. Don't get a chance to do long trips that often, but when I do, my wife and i make the most of it... Went to Myrtle Beach last summer for a weekend. Fun, fun, fun. SO we love to ride, But I am currently working 1 full time and 3 part time jobs cause the wife cannot work due to illness. SUcks, but that is life. I've got 11 years before I'm forced out....I really like what I do..sure it cuts into the riding and the skiing and the other recreational stuff but I'm at peace when I'm working..[aside from the union issues]...and people pick up on that..makes their day better too.
I don't get out near enough on the bike...I'll balance that out a little | |

I am all union when it come to certain things. It is those guys that fall back on the union when they don't do their job. I can't stand when a guy can't hold his own. I built sets for 30 years and it took it's toll on my body. I retired young but I also started very young. So I got to do what I wanted when I wanted. I got very lucky also because I was able not only to get my full pension with all the benifits. I also got to go out on disability. You know all that money that you have been giving the govt. every week since you started to draw a paycheck. Where it says SDI thats your money and if you don't go and get it before you die. Who gets all that money? Where does it go? Your wife and kids don't get it. So I think there is some guy that looks for people who die. Then funnels that money that they have been collecting for you. Into his bank account. (just kidding) But really where does it go? These are things that I always think about. Trust me on this one. You have hundreds of thousands of $$$$$$$$$ in your SDI account.
I was very surprised to see how much there was in mine. I am now 53 and I retired 2 years ago. If I live to where my dad is now, he is 93. I will still have pleanty of money in my fund. | Yup I retired early also, a few back operations helped I guess.
I dont ride as much as I use to, I get about one hundred or so a week, give or take twenty. I must be mellowing. | |

Is it the back problem or just choice that you dont ride as much? A lot depends on where you live also. All I know is that Calif. has probably the best riding. Plus you can ride all year round. Now thats a big perk for sure. G | |

| No, my back is not the reason for the low miles on two wheels, but it is a good excuse to be lazy at times. It seems lately, as I age, there is less time to do the things I like most. Too many irons in the fire at one time I guess; or is that called multitasking now? Anyway, I do see more time for riding in the near future.

The last one changed my life. I won't go into detail but I broke my leg and it did not heal properly. After seeing 5 Drs. I was told that. The next day I was in the hospital for a 6 hour operation. They put 8 screws and a plate in my left leg. So I tried going back to work twice but couldn't do it. Thats why I retired early but did have 30 years in. Just young at 51 for retirement.
I am just trying to work on my house now and bike. I am also working on my car too. Talk about irons in the fire. It never ends.. Later..GUMBY PEACE | |
