| Ok, so I am going out on a limb here.... I want to build my daugher a "build a bear" type of bear before I deploy to Iraq. They have voice recorders that you can do a SHORT message (like 10 seconds limit!). I want to find something that does the same thing that I can place in a bear that will record for 5 minutes or so. Does not need to be easily changeable after complete, and only needs to be "squeeze activated".....I was told by someone AT Build a Bear that they had a customer that came in with something like this, but didn't know where they found it. My hopes are to record a story or 2 onto the bear so she can listen to the stories when I am deployed. SO FAR, My luck on google has been less then good.....found nothing that looks "right"....anyone have any ideas?? Thanks for the help!!

| Geez, I've only seen the 10 second ones. Wish I could help more.
I do wish you well and be safe over in Iraq. Are you going to be working at one of those "Bagdad ER's" like I saw on HBO?
On a side note, I spent some time yesterday doing my clinical in a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)..fascinating. I applied for a student position at a level 3 NICU and really hope I get it. I've never been more excited about something in my life.

| I will probably be in the Balad Medical Center.....it is the one most often shown on the news etc.... last point before leaving the country for Germany most of the time.
Good luck getting into the NICU! The unit I work in is a Level 2/3 with up to 20 beds level 3 and 14 beds level 2....course, staffing is our major limitation. We also have ECMO and ECMO transport (only long range transport in the world.) I don't do that one yet! Hope things are going well for you in Nursing school! Can be a real pain, but worth while in the end!!! Biggest help for you in the NICU would be if you get a NeoFax Drug Referance. MOST/all the drugs that are used in the NICU and the dose ranges that are correct based on age/weight. Good luck! |

| Thanks for the info on the NeoFax Drug Referance. I'll see if I can get it in software form to put on my PDA (it's great having all that info in the palm of your hand).
Good luck in Iraq..when you shipping out? Hope you can get online every now and then to let us know you're ok and all.
Oh..BTW..they let civilian nurses go over there? |

| Not sure about civi nurses going over...unless you go with a group like Docs without boarders or similar group. I don't know when I depart, but I have to be in place no later then 9 Sept. Not sure exactly what the computer access is from over there...think I will get on once in a while, but not sure how much "surfing" I will be able to do.....maybe only email stuff. I will know much more later (maybe once I am there!).
As to the software for PDA......I HAVE it....bought the download from www.skyscape.com they also have some free programs for PDA. they have just about any type of nursing/medical program you can think of....I have Davis drug guide, Neo Fax, and a few other "referance" things on mine!!! Works well.
Still looking for that voice recorder.....must not be using the right search keywords..... Anyone have any good ideas on where to look??!! |
