Thanks for all the positive responses guys! Except for Chuck......calling me a rub and all. Jeeez Chuck, I just got her back on the road yesterday, gimme some time to reset my zip ties before I start doing other mods!! Seriously though, thanks again for all the help! I will try to get a pic with them on this time.

One other question to anybody, when I got back yesterday from my run, I did notice that my rotors were a little hot? The front was warm and the back was hot, almost too hot to touch. I'm wondering if the caliper isn't set quite right, and it's rubbing too hard on the rotor. That was kinda worrying me a little. Any thoughts??

lift the bike and rotate the wheel....it should spin freely. if not loosen up the caliper mounts and retighten. it could be cocked a bit, check to make sure the cups are retracting all the way, there could be some crud built up inside the calipers not allowing the cups to retract all the way. there could be build up in the master cylinder also. when checking the calipers also make sure that the rotor is centered in the caliper. you did a rear wheel change, you may need to adjust your wheel/rotor to match the caliper.
you did such a good job on the lights, i had to really look for something to "bust ya" about......
exellent job.....keep the shiney side up!!!!!! have a safe weekend....

Hey Cowboy, Thanks! I'm workin on those turn signals. I'm still trying to iron out a few bugs here and there. I might change them to lo-profile LED's as well. (I think the wifes had enough of my spending on the bike for a few ) Anyway, I got a good deal on Metzler tires front and back, from Hogpro in Ca. I think the rear is the 880 series?? I would have to go out and see. They seem to ride real nice so far. I probably have about 225 miles on them so far. I've been taking the bike to work everyday, but unfortunately the job I'm on is only like 12 miles from my house. (Could be worse, right??) I'm just happy to be ridin!

I also forgot to mention....before I put this 240 kit on my bike, (with only 5800 miles on), it would pull to the right when I rode with no hands. (yeah, yeah, I know, I know, no riding without hands) Anyway, the stealer had it 2 times and said they checked everything and it was due to the rake, narrow front wheel, and, the fact that I am ignorant and didn't know any better. NOW, after I did the 240 rear wheel, and PROPERLY aligned the motor in the frame by rotating the top adjuster 4 full turns, the bike rides straight as an arrow. F**king stealerships, and they're supposed to be A mechanics. It took a nailbanger to figure it out and correct the problem. I never went to MMI. Lousy bums!

Yea, well, I'm sorta on top of things.. ..I haven't checked out the brake thing yet, that will be this weekends project. I've only been riding it about 12 miles to work so I didn't think it was a problem, and when I had the bike in the air the wheels didn't "drag" on the brakes.....hope I'm not being stupid here.

12 miles should be enough to make them hot , if there out of line , you might get lucky & it was just a bit dirty from setting up & it's now ok
but double check it anyway

Stevenh, most of the chrome came with the bike....I just added the wheels. I get my balls busted alot for so much chrome but.....f*ck em, they're just jealous.

Cowboy, I'm definitely checkin it out this weekend. That's 25K sittin there and I don't want it to get screwed up or anything, ya know?!

I'll have to work on that in-between doing stuff on my boat. The poor thing ain't run in 2 years and the kids want to go fishing this year. The worst part about it is I got a 7 year old outboard on the back of it with only 50 hours on it!! It's a damn shame I tell ya. I used to take my boat out 2-3 times a week......till we had kids. (I love them little ones, but they sure did put a hurtin on my fishin!) Oh well, that'll be my next project I'll be posting about.

Anybody know anything about reading spark plugs on a fuel injected 2 stroke outboard???

Ok Chuck. I have a 1998 Johnson ocean runner 115hp 4cyl with ficht fuel injection. The top cylinders on the left and right were black, and the bottom two were black as well, but with alot of what I assume was/is carbon buildup on the electrode. I don't know what else to tell you. There are no adjustments as far as I know. It is all computer controlled. Sooooo, what advice you got for me??

is there a blockage in the intake..........also lugging and idling( trolling) will make em soot up.....definatly change the plugs out, also check with the dealer to make sure the plugs you are putting in are in the correct heat range. those ficht fi's are pretty fool proof. not running the engine up to operating temp will also cause that. if you run it in the driveway on a hose that will also happen. the engine is really loafing and the plugs will get sooty.

According to the tag on the motor, I'm using the OEM plugs. I have a flush port on the back of the motor that the hose screws into. Once I get the new plugs, (sat morn), I'll get it started and see what happens. I don't troll with my motor, I usually stop and drift. It runs, (or at least it did run), really smooth and I never took the plugs out before. Like I said she's only got 50 hours on her. My previous Mercury had way, way, more hours than that. Since it hadn't run in a while, I removed the plugs, sprayed some fogging oil in there and rotated the motor by hand. (that was yesterday after work) It will sit until tomorrow when I get the new plugs before I mess with it. I'll update you then. Thanks Chuck!! Any idea where I can find the computer program that runs that motor?? (since you seem to have an excessive amount of knowledge about things! )
