| So, we are hopefully wrapping up day 3 of a winter weather event in the San Antonio and much of the surrounding area. Some places had rain, many had rain, freezing rain, sleet and the like. I grew up in Iowa... lived in Montana, Illinois, and Germany. I am completly amused by how fast and completely they shut down a city of 1.2 million people for some "iffy" weather. I know some places are worse, and I am sure that some of the roads had ice, BUT, I was considered "mission essential" at work, commuted to/from work, and the roads were ice. Now, I was not pushing my speed or anything like that...was extra careful on bridges, and tried to stay on MORE primary roads, but everything I was on was just wet. Grass, trees, cars all had a layer of ice, but roads were not so bad. Last year I rode home from work in weather/roads that were worse then this!! My wife and daughter had both tuesday and wednesday off....and daughter has 1 hour delayed start tomorrow! I just find it ammusing! Hopefully, anyone else in Texas that was hit by this storm system (and those east of us as it moves through) stays safe!!

| stayed in the house most of the day......and it was cold here....raining, froze all the trees....looked pretty, but not as bad as it was 10 years ago....then the trees had so much ice that they were breaking off and leaning to the ground.......this year is a bit better...... |

| Speaking of strange weather, here in Southern California we got snow today... at the beach! Over in Malibu the canyon road that goes from the valley out to the beach had to be closed because of ice. Whats really strange is that same area was hot last week when that fire storm came down through a bunch of homes. As I write this we are in the middle of a freak thunderstorm, and the news says we'll be hit with high winds and a red-flag fire danger again this weekend. I give up trying to figure out what will come next |
