| hey guys
havent been on in awhile
i have been healing from a pretty nasty wreck.
where i live, alot of people drive golf carts, and on my way home from the corner store. i had a stretch golf cart pull a u turn in the middle of a narrow road. the lady with 9 people on board never even saw me. with the cart taking up both lanes, and me doin 40 mph . she frooze when she heard the tires start screeching. i had no where to go seeing how this cart was taking up the whole road. i think i had the bike shut down to about 20 or so when i made contact.pitching me about 30 feet from where the collision happened.
major scrape on the front of my forehead along witha concusion, dislocated shoulder, bruised hip, and a broken foot. with all that i still feel lucky.
and the sporty......just makes me want to cry.....
the tank took a preety good shot, as well as my pipes.......not to mention bent handle bars, broke lights, the good new is the forks seem to be ok, and the bike still fires up. the people who i hit have offered to repair the bike. but i am running out of time.... i have 3 more days to get the bike to the shop, or i will have to file a report, wich neither of us want to do.i am just now getting to where i can move around. but still cant stand for mor than a minute, without hurting. as long as i sit still and dont move.....i seem to be ok.
will try and post some pics of my sad shape sporty, if i can get my son to do so.
anyway thats where i ahve been,
almost healed, i can see improvment each day.....

| We've have been missing you around here. I'm really sorry to hear about your wreck but as you said, it could have been a whole lot worst. I'm surprised someone on the cart wasn't hurt. Take care of yourself and the bike. I hope it all works out for you and I hope they are not just fixing your bike and are taking care of any doctor bills also.

| slim,
as far a medical, the good lord really blessed me on that one. i did a remodel for a doctor here that runs utmb mediacl center in galveston where i live. he is also head of the er room. so i was in good hands right from the get go. dr maleski has taken care of everything. so that part has been handled. now if icould just make the soreness go away......
i am starting to move around a little better, but still grounded to the inside of the house.

Sorry to hear about your collision, bro. Unbelievable how fu*king dumb some people are! That lady in the cart is lucky you weren't in your truck and unable to stop... otherwise she'd be the one in poor condition (if she was lucky!). Sh*tty deal on the Sporty too, bro... breaks my heart. Make sure that you get it back on the road, and get yourself back on the road, as soon as you can.
In the meantime, get better & take some deserved R&R.
Cheers, bro. |

| TRG - Get well, and doing what the Doc says is a good start. Sorry about your ride, but get it TCO even if someoen else has to help.
Sheesh, a friggin' stretch golf cart? Now we'll have to add that to the list of crap that gets in our way on the roads. |

| got to actually look at my bike for the first time since the wreck, this morning
had my son wheel it out where i could look at it.....its fixable.......
funny the fat bob tank took most all of the blunt force....turn signal, and mirrors along with the front brake master cylnder, foward controls......not really that bad......air cleaner and pipes made out ok....all of the chrome is still shinny.....no scratchs, i never like those handle bars anyway!!!
having my son, stop by and picking me up a rolla chair, so i can start working on the bike while i am healing......

| TRG,
You mentioned that the folks in the "stretchie" cart are offering to patch yer scoot up, but what about you??!!?? I hate to sound like "one of those people", but I think they should at least help w/ the Doc bills also. Just my 2 cents worth! |

| Heal well. I'm not big on making things official but you may want to get yourself checked out but good. If you're still punching a paycheck like me you want to be able to make sure you're still able to do so before you let the lady cart driver off the hook..just my thought. |

| the lady who hit me, her husband has been real nice. i must admit he stepped to the plate when all this happened. and so far has stuck to his word.....i live on a small island. we both knew the police sergent, by first name.the one thing to my favor..... ibuilt the sergents front deck and stairs.....as with the doctor.....i have done work on many different houses he has owned.....he wouldnt let me pay anything....so i made a donation...not of large one but what i thought to be fitting.....its funny how this small isalnd works........
and being one of the best carpenters on the island....... does have its perks..... ......and my son has made me proud...he has stepped to the plate and has been covering my job as well as his. this is his first time working with out me ,not looking over his shoulder..he has done pretty good, actually he has done very well. i am so ready to go to work.... the deal is i have to be able to put a shoe on my foot to return...i cant even get a sock on it yet.....but i am thinikng if i take the laces out, and use an ace bandage for a sock...i might could get that shoe on...i am just so ready to be back at work, even if i dont do a whole lot, i wil atleast be doin somthing.

| TRG, man that really sucks. I wouldn't pay a thing you didn't ask her to pull out in front of you so you could wreck you body and bike. If I lived down there I'd bring my trailer over and do what ever it would take to get your bike back on the road. As for you getting back on the road its going to take some time to heal and don't rush it. God, what was she thinking by doing that. |
