| So, looked at the calendar today... SO many IF's on it.... IF I had joined the Army (which I did, and proud of it), IF I had NOT joined the National Guard and would have stayed active Army (but I did, and Have NEVER regreted my Guard time), IF I had never done a 1 year break of service (but I did, and still do not really regret it), IF I had not gotten back into the guard (but I did that too!), and IF I had not gone into the Air Force (a move I don't regret either!), TODAY would have been my first day of active duty Army RETIREMENT But I did....I have no regrets. Have had a great time doing things, seeing things, meeting many people....am now a Nurse in the Air Force, and will retire in about 8-9 years. All brings me back to today.....I could have retired!! |

Also, If I would have stayed army, I would have been estimated E7 or E8....just a guess, but don't think I was cut out for E9!! As a Nurse, I am an officer, so at the "end of the big race", the retainer fee (retirement check) will be just a little bit bigger....should be a captain or major....probably not going much higher then that as I don't play some of "those games!". Would have been nice to say "I'm Retired" tho!!! |

| I hear ya. I wish that I could have figured out what the hell I was supposed to do in life A LOT earlier than I actually did. Though when I was younger I probably wasn't ready for it. I am only about 5.5 years in... another 19.5 to go! But I agree with you... I likely wouldn't have a fantasic wife and two awesome kids if I didn't take the path that I did. All in all, I can't complain. (On second thought... fu*k it, sure i can! ) |

| September 1st will mark my 12th year in retirement. I retired from the Coast Guard in 1996 and have never regretted it. I could have stayed longer for a few more coins and probably wouldn't have regretted that either. The decisions we make are uniquely ours. Thanks for serving!! |
