Well, the big weekend for Reno Street Vibrations is upon us in Northern California and all I could do is gaze out the open shop door as the herds of happy harley riders took off for the weekend. Hope a good time is had by all that get to go there. For me, working in a dealership there is no way you get the time go when there is so much drop in business from the poor souls that have bad luck and need a mechanic to get them back on the road. At least being 75 feet off a major freeway (I-580) I can at least listen to the packs of growling pipes as they climb the Altamont Grade. Load pipes are music to my ears at a time like this. There was a pack of about 60 bikes from the clubs in Oakland that passed this morning and with just about everyone running thunderheaders it sounded like a swarm of angry bees. You could hear them coming and going away. Guess I'm lucky I wasn't one of the cage drivers that got to share that section of concrete. Hope the weather holds for all the lucky participants.

Weather yesterday was great. Today is looking fine, too - 78 and partly cloudy until this evening. Weather for tomorrow has been revised from a high of 57 to 66 now - much more comfy. Rain in the forecast, but it often is and yet we rarely see it on the valley floors.

Yesterday was a good day in Reno. I have to go back there briefly today, then its off to Virginia City.

Cool talkin' to Red Rider yesterday evening. He was heading back toward Fallon and it was coolin off pretty good. Thanks for stoppin in at the Sugar Loaf Motel in VC.

Just sat down to breakfast this morning at the Delta Saloon when the sky dumped hail big time. Many riders got soaked riding up from Reno for the day (the official busiest day of the year in Virginia City). This one chopper was sitting under a downspout from the building and it had a hard waterfall on it for at least 45 minuts..clean bike!

One of the better Street Vibes, despite the weather. Met old and new friends, bought good stuff (like my eagle claw kickstand - even my wife likes it ), had expensive cheap beer and free expensive wine, actually enjoyed the crowds a bit and still had quality alone time with my bike on the lonely highways.

Nice meeting up with ya, SK. Your friends were cool, too, so maybe we'll meet up next year when I'm not in a hurry and your riding your own rig again. Have a safe trip back!

I've said it before and I know I'll say it agan. I wish I was there. All my bros went up friday night and tried to take me with them, but due to being short on $$$$$$ I did'nt go.... On Saturday I had to talk myself out of it most of the day after all it is only a short ride over the hill.

Crowds were down some, but still a great St Vibes. I didn't understand in Monday's Reno Gazette that there were only 2500 participants. I don't know the exact numbers, but at least 15-20k showed up..usually around 30k. I guess only 2500 participants paid the $50 or so to register. I don't care much for Randy Burke, who puts on the rally (he's driven many a good vendor away), but it's my favorite rally of the year. Still..I think Virginia City is the place to stay. They're adding rooms up there with the new 68 room Ramada.
