The only time you may need one is if you live in extremely hot areas of the country like Vegas, Phoenix or some place like that. Another place would be if your pulling a trailer other than that you really don't need one.

most of the time i used power steering coolers from the auto parts stores..very small and compact, when painted, hardly visible, but if left the bare aluminum they dont look bad either. the one on my 06 is bare aluminum.

first pic is the cooler mounted between the downtubes. the second is showing were i had to trim the oil line cover to allow the room for hoses. i think you can spend a bunch of money and get a chrome one from hd, but as you can see my bike doesnt have a lot of chrome.....too much work, and it takes away from riding time. this cover also houses my oil temp gauge. the total spent for the mods...cooler and gauge, hoses, clamps ect...also done at the same time i installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge, brings total to nearly 100 dollars.......

| Living down in S Florida gets damn hot in the summer...However, never found a need to run oil coolers on my 04 Road King or my 124" custom chop, because I always run Mobil1 synthetic...

Yea, Arizona might be a place where you would want one. I've run all my Haley's with the exception of the SE Ultra that has the 110 in it (comes with a oil cooler already built in) without an oil cooler and never had a problem. If you ride in parades a lot a cooler won't help you either but a big fan mounted on the side would, but then there's the clutch which is a whole other story of its own.
