for the record, i am on of those people who hates the holidays. i can remember when x-mas was not all about gifts, and what you were gonna get.
it use to be about family, and the celebration of the birth of jesus, somewhere along the way, we got off track. i blame big bussines.

i must have been a pretty good boy, cause santa sent me a new back tire,and a windsheild for my sporty. the back tire was so needed, no more burouts for this dog!!!!
i also got a windsheild, looks great but does not work worth a phuck!!
and i dont know how to tell my pretty little wife who got the dam thing for me, that it really sucks!!!
i just dont want to hurt her feelings, she is very sencitive, and it was a very kind jesture.
in this case i willing to tell a little white lie to save her feelings, and get the one i want.
your thoughts are greatly appreciated.......

It would just be a shame if that windshield died in the line of duty. It could catch a nasty Rock and A> save her hubby from a terrible hit B> Give All in the process of saving hubby C> Go away thanks to that horrible crack/scratch/break in it and be replaced by the desired one.

In this way wifey maintains the belief that she gave the perfect gift. Along with the fact she gave a gift that protected her loved one from some serious harm making the gift that much more special. As long as you can maintain the "I hate it so badly that the windshield was destroyed, but really glad it was there" you should do well.

Hell maybe the insurance would even go the distance on part of your desired windshield .

nice gifts!!!!! i know ya needed a new tire,,,,when i was down there i could see the air in the old one!!! lol. as for the windshield, maybe say how much ya love it, but it just doesnt fit as it should. the mfg. had quite a few models and the one she got was almost correct but not quite. then go get the one that "fits"...........

Just swap it and tell her they sent the wrong one, no problem.

If she got the PN from you tell her you screwed up and gave her the wrong information, now it's your fault, she'll buy that and you'll be saved.

I'd be willing to bet she wants you to have the one you want. It would upset her more to know that you were using something that you really didn't like. The thought is what really counts and she has fulfilled that part. Chuck and HRK gave you some good advice....do it.

I am sure she would want you to have the best possible gear available, if you are honest and tell her that you really appreciate the gift, but that unfortunately, it does not work, any woman would really understand. Just make sure that the replacement is what you needed. Good luck!

Tell her what you told us. You are really grateful that she was so thoughtful but you'd rather have a different windshield.

Biker chick's POV...

I leave the surprise gifts for non-motorcycle items. Before I got the ex the chrome lower legs, the beach bars, the Mustang seat, etc., I made sure that's what he wanted. The thing is, you try to do this surreptitiously a few months before the big day. The last surprise gift I gave him was a complete setup for homemade root beer (something I knew he'd like) and custom designed "Grumpy Fireman's Brew" labels for the bottles. Still fun but no worries about it being the right fit for the precious motorcycle. I guess when you have one of your own, you just know these things. Maybe you could keep a list of stuff you want for your bike, with part numbers, and then she could refer to the list if she feels like treating you and your bike again.
