I have a buddy with a real nice FXDWG-II & probably more mods then it's worth.He & I went neck & neck with the Performance additions w/the exception of his mods to the tranny.He had a shop(BFD-RACING)install this trans. gear/mainshaft kit called "TWIST" gears.I understand the design aspect of it & see how it could be better.This modification has been a total pain in the ass since done.The seals for the main shaft leaked after first installation.The shift-shaft seal failed the second time.So far it has been o.k.
I told my buddy,I would have either bought the stuff from JIMS-or-BAKER & called it a day.
I have a great respect for this shop as I have seen some baddass bikes come from them but,wonder about their choice for trans. mods.

did the shop recomend the gear set or did your buddy mention it to them??
all mods will have there problems, but if the shop stood behind their job....ya cant blame them too much....

sound's like bad workmanship to me they did'nt line it all up , thats why all the seals went out , & the bike down for another week or so

I knew my buddy was pissed enough & didn't want to question him about the shop.The shop is pretty well known around here and he has known the owner since they were kids.The shop recommended the "Twist" gears.I'm sure they'll stand behind the workmanship it's just a doubtful feeling wondering if or when something is puking out.I still believe in going with industry standard stuff thats had a proven track record.00 wildglide

The gears edge at it's point of mesh contact is cut differently than conventional gears.The gear tooth count is different also from what my buddy said.
(IMO):I personally would have gone with JIMS-or-BAKER assemblies myself.I must also add that my buddy drives this bike a bit HARD.
