a special edition USPS $3000 road bike

I HATE those sorry PsOS. I have to deal with USPS, GoMart, FedEx and a couple other riding teams on my road. They like riding the road that leads to my house. I have to admit it is a good road to ride, 90% straight slight elevation variations, and the curves are long and swooping. You can haul arse, but I simply dispise those jerks on bicycles. I have seen days I would have paid a month's wages to see a big truck do to them what happened to this guy. Pay license and taxes on that POS, put on required lights and signals, and lets not forget inusurance THEN MAYBE I wouldn't hate them quite as bad. Oh yeah forgot obey traffic laws (ie when the light is red they must stop too not blow by and force you to get around their dumbass yet again down the street).

THAT is just ONE SERIOUS SUCK A$$ way to go....... The only consolation is that he probably felt very little as it was so quick.... not MUCH consolation, but best I can come up with.

We have the bike teams around here, they are for the most part ok, ride in a straight line, but they will not stop at any intersections

I almost hit one turning right at the end of our street the numbnuts flew by me on the right, I was on my RK, he got lucky, missed me and the stop sign by inches, I gave him an earful, stop signs apply to bicycles too.

Looking back over the video two things come to mind you have to watch what happens before the hit, back down the road.

1) It appears that the truck was moving above the pace of traffic
2) The Scooter was moving below the pace of traffic and to the right side of the far lane
3) The truck begain to move to the left to go around the scooter into the middle lane
4) In the middle of the trucks pass and move to the center lane the scooter driver pulls over to the left in front of the truck
5) Truck driver tried to get over to the right but was going to fast and overtook the scooter.

JMO sorry accident to see but it shows too that going slow can be dangerous especially on a higher speed road, looks like the scooter was being very conservative and below speed, hanging on the right side of the road by the edge.

He must not have looked in his mirrors when he started to cross the lane, only thing I can figure.

here in the bay area I see these under powered scooters on the freeway and they ride like they're in a cadillac or something large that everyone can see its surprising that more of them don't get run down while I think the truck was going too fast it appears that the scooter rider either didn't look or didn't think the truck was going that fast and moved into his path at that point there wasn't much the truck could do as we all know a large truck can't stop on a dime

You're right Steve, a few of my friends drive trucks, and they say it is not easy watching out for everybody else cause they sure don't look out for the truckers! I guess they figure the bigger the truck, the bigger the brakes.....unfortunately, not so!

In a way they are right....bigger the truck the bigger the brakes, BUT bigger cargo weight, and increased stopping distance and bad news if you think that a fully loaded truck can stop like a Porsche or Corvette!

I don't know what country that crash was in however I remember when I was in the SE Ashia countries that the bigger vehicle always had the right away. Don't think so just drive some of those roads.

I still think the driver of the truck was partially at fault because he did not slow down and watch the road as he should have.

Goes to show you what the value of life is there. Many of the Asian countries that I was in when in the military back during Viet Nam that the value of life was not put as a priority. Many times we saw bodies left lying in the street with people walking by going about their daily life. I witnessed a so called police officer in the Philippines shoot a young boy that had just stole a watch from a passing by GI who didn't know better than not to wear items like that openly. That was quit an eye opener for me at 18 years old, so this does not surprise me at all.

I shouldn't have looked at that. It was disturbing. But curiosity got the better of me.
