Just announced earlier today on news that Honda bikes are closing shop here in Marysville Ohio. 450 jobs there will be absorbed into thecar, truck and "other" faciliites is the current plan. I do know several people that work there. People will still loose their jobs(Honda has alot of temps). did not get a reason on the radio but my co-worker's wife wotrks their and he said they gotr alot of stock sitting around. Not sure all the bikes are going back overseas or not.

According to a news article I read this morning, all bike production is returning to Japan. This includes the Goldwing and VTX models. Honda claims they have more capacity in Japan. The Marysville plant can produce 75,000 bikes/year. The plant in Japan can produce up to 600,000 bikes/year. Honda also claims it can produce the bikes more efficeintly in Japan.

Most company's can be more cost efective in there own country , they don't have to pay the high US union wages & or the high price for product's to make all the parts , I have seen Company's save money by shipping there raw product overseas & have it come back as part's for us to by

I don't know about salaries being lower in Japan. When I lived there the minimum wage was like $22.00 an hour. MOst of the rest of Aisa yeah but not Japan.

costs are always going to be lower if you're using 7 year olds to make your stuff.....I'd rather have my stuff made here.

my buddie's wife works there. There are alot of temps there,so not all 450 jobs will be absorbed into the workforce. Also he me told the civic car line(that or the camry or one of them lines) is moving to Indianna. Top pay there will be maxed at 18.00. Right now they are paying 24.something an hour. The ytold the employees here in Ohio that something else was going to be coming here in there Marysville facility.

I hope so, it's a shame that many people would be out of a decent paying job, then forced to take a job paying alot less.
