Howdy,
Been absent for a few weeks. Back when I was in Monroe, LA me and my pardner John Saucier had a boxing gym on the side. Just a small deal 3000 square feet and one ring and the usual bags and stuff. Trained a few ameteurs and semi pros and a lot that just wanted to stay in shape. One of the latter was a kid named Stan. He was mid twenties, had a Kawasaki crotch rocket and was a pretty good guy. He was an orphan and had spent four years in the Corps and was going to the University of Lousiana at Monroe. Had heart and fought pretty good for a lightweight. His sister called me a few weeks ago. Long story short, liver cancer, they did an exploratory and just sewed him back up and gave him lots of pain killers. He had asked her to call and let me know. I headed down and spent some time with him. Not a good way to go. Stan died Monday. He was as I said a good kid. Always was gonna get him a Harley etc. The usual things.
So raise a glass for him, and pray none of us goes like that.

May he rest in peace, what a shame for a young promising life to go this early. This type of cancer is not very forgiving!

Condolences to his family and prayers for him. It is tough loosing a friend, I lost my best friend about a year and a half ago. I called him one Friday just to bullsh&t and see how he was. He told me he was in the hospitol for a respitory issue. The following Tuesday he was gone. I couldn't believe it.
So here's to Stan, and to you Bear for being such a good friend.

Death is hard. Death in someone too young to die is harder yet. Without trying to minimalize death, sorrow should be turned to celebration.....of life. Celebrate life, celebrate knowing him....for if you had never known him, you could not mourn his passing. My glass is lifted high.... Here is to the celebration of his life..... remember the good times and pass it on!
