Sorry to hear about your experience. It's too bad she took off like that. It's true she might have been scared of bikers as mentioned. Guess it's the way we prejudge entire categories of people. 'Seems like she could've reported it though. That's why we pay for insurance.

Thanks for the tip about Wal Mart and the like, SK. I'll remember to park carefully when I get to one of those places this summer. Steven H, I think the driver just wanted to avoid any responsibility. I had a travel cover over it, so as far as she was concerned, she knocked down a big blue cover and not a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Easier to rationalize away I guess.

Man you guys are scareing the hell out of me. I park on my porch at home, hide her in a cubby hole here at work or in the warehouse if it is supposed to rain (me and the manager back there get along real well LOL). Now I will be scared to take her anywhere I can't hide her.

Again sorry for your lose HB. Replied in the other thread. Hope it don't cost you too badly to get her back to right.

I park up on the sidewalks at the stores like that, too. And to date, noone has complained too loudly when I asked them where they'd park THEIR bike, and isn't it better to not "waste" a car space with my little 'ol bike????

Exactly..I always mention that when a security (parking lot) guard tells me I can't park there. I'm saving space for cagers..more customers!

This reminds me of when a buddy and I parked both our bikes in the same space on a street in town just south of Santa Cruz, CA years ago. We put money in the parking meter, but a cop said we could only park one bike per meter. Doesn't make sense..there's only two of us, but that cage in front of us had 4 people in it. You'd think saving space for more customers to go into the restaurants and shops would be good for business.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. There are inconsiderate people everywhere. That's why I stay out of the city. I don't mean that is where they all are. There are just more people there in general and as a result more inconsiderate ones. I've had my share of scary close calls in Boston. Now I choose not to go there on my bike and try not to go there at all if I can possibly help it. I can't imagine NYC would be any better.

In busy areas, I try to find a nice protective place to park, like behind a pole, Jersey barrier, etc. or on the sidewalk if possible.

I would file the police report as already suggested. You never know. Someone could have called it in on a cell phone or something and the police don't know it was your bike that got hit.

Good luck.

Yep and you might get luck she'll come back to that area and you can get the tag,

Carry a small tire stem valve removal tool, 4 flats in nyc he he gotta be big bucks.

Still at least she didn't hit it with you on it and you should call the LEO and report it. Nothing may happen and something might.

I Hate when people don't have enough respect for themselves or others to accept the consequences for their actions. Unfortunately, honest people get stuck with the check way too often.

Thanks TJ. Ultimately, our most valuable commodity as humans is our time. We have a limited amount and the time spent dealing with things like this is what inconsiderate people are really stealing from us.
