ok y'all.....we have one of our members overseas, and i am sure y'all know a lot of others over there as well. i am making this post on behalf of german, to try to get everyones input to getting "stuff" together to send to chris...(aka af nurse).
german will post on here and has a lot of particulars....what,where,how to send the "stuff". he will also probably let us know what "stuff" is!!!!
this thread should turn into a sticky so it doesnt get lost in other posts.....
thanks y'all, i know the troops will enjoy!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone, thanks to Chucktx and Kenfuzed we may be in a very good position to pull this one off. As you know one of our members AFNurse is over at the sand box, serving another tour of duty. I have been in constant communication with him, and it is obvious that things are never easy when you are there under constant threat and lacking the everyday needs that you or I take for granted.

This is the reason we are asking everyone in here to please prepare to donate and eventually send to me, where I will be responsible to package and deliver this so called gift from all the members at Bike-Talk.com to all the brave men and woment that are keeping us free on this side of the pond.

I am putting a list of items that will be easily accepted and will not have any trouble getting through once I deliver the package to the Military Supply Line for delievery to AFNurse and all his brother and sisters in arms in the sanbox.

Hope you all will consider and help us get what we need to them in a short period of time.

German

I found a roadside elk/buffalo jerky place the other day. I know he said that would be a good thing.

It would be great to get the address posted here. With the soldier I adopted, I'd send a flat rate priority mail package. I like the idea of posting what we send so the duplications are limited, but I'm not sure I understand why it would all go through German. It seems like we'd be paying postage to send it to him, then giving him money to send it on. Unless I'm missing something... Is it the point to have one big box come from Bike Talk?

HOT01,

My idea is to create a box that will be sent from this group at Bike-Talk.com. Postage to get it to me should not be a lot, but certainly when I get done with the box or boxes which are not to exceed 20 Lbs, we will see what that costs will be.

I am trying to get Chuck and Ken to put a tally on this thread so that people will know what to send. Naturally if you have any other ideas, please let me know and we'll work from there.

The following is a preliminary list of items that I have investigsted with AFNurse, the USO and other websites associated with sending care packages for the troops:

  1. Recent DVD Releases - Please label Attn: Cpt. Chris Nelson (Permanent Marker) so they don't get stolen and resold to our troops.
  2. Water Flavor - Small Packets
  3. Country Time Lemonade
  4. Powder drinks
  5. Calling Cards - Military Exchange rates - Those of you that can get access to them please do so
  6. Motorcycle Do-Rags - Dark Colors and small enough to fit under helmets
  7. Motorcycle Magazines - AIM - Hot Bike - or any other biker magazine - Please refrain from sending pornographic material, the package would be immediately rejected
  8. Readers Digest Magazines
  9. Outdoor - Hunting Magazines - Guns Collection
  10. Cool Aid
  11. Tea - Flavored (Celestial Seasonings or any other brands are welcomed)
  12. Beef Jerky and any other long lasting snacks
  13. Chocolate Chip cookies pre-packaged or home made
  14. Sun Block 45 SPF or higher
  15. Small Games
  16. Battery Operated Games
  17. Travel size Toothpaste
  18. Travel Size Deodorants - Men and Women
  19. Travel size shampoo
  20. Travel size soap
[/b]This is just preliminary AFNurse has requested that we can get other ideas there, so don't simply go for this list. Keep in mind though, that I am trying to stuff all of the donated materials into 20 Lbs boxes, as I don't know how many I can send from the Post Office.

Please forward all donations to my home address:
German J Gutierrez
1587 Ramapo Way
Scotch Plains, NJ 07076
C/O AFNurse Package

Hopefully we can collect enough items within a two to three week period of time, at which time I would ask the website administrator to remove and consider it done for AFNurse.

Please PM if you have any questions.

Best regards,
German

I have all the recent Rider magazines (not American Rider) and American Motorcyclist (AMA's mag) as I subscribe to both. Can send in the next couple of days unless somebody already has sent them.

SK,

Have not begun to receive anything as of yet, but please forward at your disposal, as I need to start collecting as quickly as possible. Many thanks in advance.

German, I got a bunch of "older" bike mags if you want them, probably 15 or 20 at least. Let me know if you want to include them and i can drop them off at your house. I'll try to scout up whatever else is on the list and bring it with me when I stop by.

Most of the bike mags I have are pretty old too but I am a regular subscriber to Hot Rod Magazine and have several recent issues I can send along. Maybe a dozen or so. I will see what else I might have too.

I've been a little slow but I brought some Hot Rod mads and a couple of motorcycle mags to work today. If it isn't too late I will send them out today.
