Hey all! Been awhile since I posted anything..... we are getting well up in triple digits, but humidity is solidly in the singles...... Over the last 5 days we have had terrible dust.....chokes a person, covers everything...hurts the eyes, and most importantly hinders air traffic!!! At the hospital we rely on helocopters and fixed wing aircraft for patient movement.....we are moving patients, but not at the pace we want!!! I am off today. Not sure what I am going to do yet.....think I am going to go to the USO and read a book to my daughter ( you choose a book, read it to someone while they video record it, and the USO sends the book and dvd disc to your child!!! LOVE the program....think my daughter finally got her first one in the last day or so, tho need to confirm it! I have done it 4-5 times so far....and going to do it again today! Bit of internet time, maybe read a book..... keep it low key. Helps to balance the fog of working in a hospital in a combat theater..... There are some seriously banged up people here....MOSTLY Iraqi..... but we get a fair number of Americans also.... Saw the Sticky note on sending me stuff! Feel free to adjust the list as you desire. I appriciate the thoughts!!!

Well, about time for me to go read a book to the kiddo...you all keep the rubber on the road and the shiney side up!!!

Good to hear from you. I stopped by a roadside jerky place the other day and picked up some for you. Of course I got run over the day after, so I'm not sure when I'll get it in the mail, but I have been thinking about you!

Glad that you are able to TELL me!! Other alternatives are not so good. Take your time and get healthy! I am about 1/4 through the deployment, so will be here for another 3 months or so!!! Hope that your ride and wrist get healed up in time to do some riding this summer!!!

Hey guys! Glad that you are back up....GrayBear, had been wondering why I had not seen you post in a bit....thought you might be riding, but........??!! Peyts, I would agree...would have been good to catch up and have the ride and a beer at sturgis last year..... next year could be tricky as I am looking at the possibility of moving next summer....only time will tell tho! We have had some pretty big kabooms here lately....the CLOSE ones were the controlled detinations....what concerned me is most of the time they do controlled dets, they leave the unexploded ordinance in place....and those blasts were CLOSE.....less then 400M by my guess....I was feeling shock waves and I was INSIDE the hospital!!! Oh well...least they did not detonate upon impact!!!

Not much going on here...work 4, off 1....and not much to do on the one off. I am off tomorrow, so think I will watch a movie tonite and sleep in tomorrow...then maybe a haircut, read another book to the kiddo...have a commanders call (mandatory).......big day huh?!?

Hope you all have a great day!

Cool

But it's a dry heat... when it gets that hot it's FREAKIN' HOT. I got a nephew in the 278th Cal that did a tour during Dessert Storm then again in '04 to Iraq. He's waiting for the green light to go again. I think he has already seen so much sand that he won't even go to the beach now. He has the chore of locating and disarming explosives...

We appreciate ya over there... believe you me! Bring it home and get in the wind soon!

You got that right...then you add gear, long sleve/long leg uniforms, etc.....makes it ieven hotter. The other problem with the DRY heat is that you don't feel yourself sweat as it evaporates just about as fast as you make it..... dehydration comes on quick over here. If you feel thirsty, you are already over 1qt low on fluids.... I can't remember the last time I drank this much fluid.......well, ok, so the last time was during Desert Storm...... Just ain't natural!!! But I am NOT going to go down with heat injury if I can help it!!! So, I just keep drinking lemonaid, crystal light, tang, etc and stay away from caffeine. been over a month since I had a soda or beer.

Damn..it's only gonna be 110º here in Las Vegas tomorrow..a cool spell in Iraq. (Though too hot to friggin ride) I do have a big swimming pool though.

You see many motorcycles in Iraq? I gather you don't get out of the Green Zone much.
