Yea know what hotroadking I firmly believe they simply don't look and don't care. Had one of you guys ran into her and one of the kids were hurt, she sure as hellll would blame you and say I had the right of way. As they have said for years, Moms and mini vans will kill us all yet.

Sense I have no work today I think I'll go out for a ride way out in the back country. Stand a better chance with the deer on the roads than those mini vans with mom drivers.

Motorcycles and cars (and horses, deer, dogs, possums, rabbits, people....) have been hitting each other since at least 1903. Ride alert as ya can, but we all pay the price of enjoying being in the wind. Gotta be real lucky not to - that is all there is to it. Ain't been all that lucky, myself, but could've been worse.......could've been in a friggin' cage!

The "problem" with bikes is they take more concentration to ride than a car does to drive. Folks are used to being clueless in cages. Treat 'em as the clueless ones they are, but know that our consequences will always be greater in a wreck....so get away from 'em when ya can. And know, too, that the longer your ride, the worse your skills will be. I've driven a car over 50 hours straight (coast to coast) with only gas breaks, and was less beat at the end than when I did 19 hours on my bike - by a LONG way.

Riding safe is a joke - we're not safe from the time we put the kickstand up, and we all know that deep down. Riding smart & alert is key, but that still don't stop a mule deer buck from spearing your brain when it jumps out of the roadside brush. As killed a friend of mine. So.......ride smart, ride alert.....

And.....Ride LUCKY!

Vindication!!!

I was driving down to the paint shop this morning and was doing through Denver when this car in front of me decided at the last second that he wanted to take the exit. He cut over - and right into the path of a semi. The truck locked it up and laid on the horn. I felt bad for the truck driver, but I have to say I laughed about the fact that the driver of the car probably had to change his/her pants. Maybe that person will look a little harder the next time. Hopefully it was a life-changing experience and at least that one person, and anyone who saw it, will think twice about swerving into another lane without a thought.

The First Day Of Daytona Bikeweek This Year,i Made My Very First Stop At A Major Dealership,shopped For Four Hours And Left To Return To Jacksonville,fl. To Stay With Relatives. I Had To Immediately Stop For Gas [ Broad Daylight]. I Pulled Up To The Middle Unoccupied Pump Out Of Three The First Of Which No One Also Occupied. I Have Put The Kickstand Down [my Back Is To The Other Empty Pump] ,i Am Raising My Right Foot Off The Ground When An F150 Pick-up Truck Backs Up Into My Rear And Rolls Up On The Saddle Bags.me And My Baby Are Knocked Down With My Left Foot Pinned Under The Floorboard Of My Bike And All The Weight Of The Bike [ Ultraclassic] Bearing Down On My Foot Whuch Was Inside A Heavy Leather Boot. Other Driver Stated He Did Not See Me.there Is A Lot More To This Event But Suffice It To Say I Had Multiple Fractures Of My Lt. Foot And I Now Have A "biker's Limp". If Not For The Boot And Some Other Bikers That Lifted My Bike Off Of Me,i Would Have Sustained Even More Damage. This All Happened Two Months After Getting My Baby Back After Hitting A Dog. It Was $ 9000.oo In Damages The First Time [ With Extensive Road Rash To Me And My 6 Yr.old Daughter] And $ 10000.00 This Time With Another 3mon. Without My Bike As Well As My $ 10000.00 Foot Injury. I Am Back On Two Wheels And I Am Very Lucky To Be. I Did Manage To Get My Boot Back On But It Took Me Two Hours Driving Around Jacksonville In The Rain With A Broken Foot And A Drivable But Seriously Damaged Bike. It Took Two People To Get The Boot Off The Second Time And 10 Weeks Before I Could Once Again Wear The Boots And Ride. I Firmly Believe That **** Happens But I Would Really Appreciate More Of A Warning. Good Healing To You And Get A Good Lawyer.

Git off on this, I heard that 2 dudes riding 1 different bike headed at each other was riding on Hiway 255 on Sam Rayburn day was gonna do a High Five hit each other head on and killed both guy's.
Man Please where does people come up with this kind of thinkin.

Yesterday a group of us headed to the Oregon coast for the Sea-feast rally in Seaside Oregon. Cool little rally that is gaining steam. Great place to Bikini watch along the board walk. We had a great time, but 4 of the guys that went down with us decided to hit the bars. I tried talking to them but it only made them pissed off and we heard them say were tough we can handle it. When it came time to leave the rest of us looked at those 4 and we all knew they were in no shape to ride. They raced ahead of the rest of us cutting people off in the 4-way stops. One other biker thought they were supposed to stop at the stop, which they were supposed to and was making his left turn when they all 4 went right right through the stop and the guy on his Fat Boy came to an abrupt stop right in the middle of the turn and dumped it over. Those four didn't even stop. We helped the guy out and decided we were taking a different route back, didn't want to pick up any more pieces. Alcohol and riding just doesn't mix, needless to say my wife and I won't ride with them again.

Reminds me of the "safety officer" in my old HOG chapter. There's an annual ride to a chowder house in Maine on the coast. He had some buddy come along, and when we stopped for gas just before the restaurant. He informed us that he and his buddy wanted to go to a different place; the place we were going was overrated and overpriced. Whatever. We go there every year and nobody's had a problem with it yet. So we make plans to meet after lunch and they take off. When we met back up, they had clearly been drinking. No doubt why they wanted to go to a different place. He was leading the ride back and was barely slowing for stop signs and driving a lot faster than some in the group were comfortable with. We had always ridden at a pace that was comfortable for everyone. We let them go on their way.

So here's the guy that gets up and preaches and hounds anyone who chooses not to wear a helmet, yet he's out there drinking (substantially) and riding. It became obvious why the guy had dropped his bike so many times recently. Time to pack it in as the safety officer, pal.

Boy Abbey, he sure as heck is a poor example for the rest of the chapter the guy needs to step down. I'm the lead Road Captain for our chapter and wouldn't I have set a poor example had I been in their drinking. This was not a chapter ride but just a group of friends and others getting together to ride to the coast. However I've always had a personal policy that I never drink (even one beer) and ride. Some think my standard is to high but that's my standard for me others have their own and some will say one beer is OK, that's up to them.
Sitting in a bar and drinking for hours and then jumping on the bike in my opinion is not only stupid but it will eventually catch up to them.

I Have A Chrome Message On The Front Fender Above The Ultraclassic Title Which Says Road Rage.i Carry A Small,powerful Co2 Automatic Pistol With 15 Steel Bb's Loaded In It And It Will Make A Real Mess Of An Auto Window. I Have Not Used It As Of Today But The Likelihood Increases Daily.. It Really Doesn't Matter How Good A Rider You May Be,if They Can Hit You Or Cause You To Decide On The Lesser Of Damages,they Will. I Combine Defensive And Offensive Driving Because As A Biker I Am Threatened By Other Vehicles On A Daily Basis. I Might Also Add That Drinking/drugs Don't Mix With Any Kind Of Operation Of Any Vehicle.why Would Anyone Increase The Odds Against Him Or Her By Driving Under The Influance. The Foot Injury Prompted Retirement A Year Earlier Than I Had Planned.my Profession Required A Lot Of Standing And Walking But My Foot Could Not Hold Out And I Couldn't Work With Drugs On Board. I Am However Much More Relaxed And Patient. The Stress Had Reached A Serious Breaking Point.i Also Probably Should Have Sued But I Really Think It Would Only Have Complicated The Situation And Add More Stress. I'm Doing As Well As I Can Expect And I Can Still Ride.

Used to have a couple of beers when riding,
don't anymore

Drinking and riding don't mix

Kind of got that attitude at Bike Week one year where I saw a bike down in a parking lot, ambulances and a white sheet that was very red over a body where the head would be.

BTW as to the bb gun and cages,

I don't tempt fate with cages, they are 4 times as big, stop better and will ALWAYS win in a face off, just run over you and say they didn't see you, it's an accident and they drive off, you ride off in another cage, either ambulance or hearse. Not the last ride I want to take.
