While surfing bike talk I saw the e-bay stuff to the side. What caught my eye was a 45-46 knuckle head frame going for 4,500. What was mind blowing was it had 3 bids, must be something special about those stock knuckle head frames would have to be some kinda rich to be buying that kinda stuff

Betcha wish you had a few of em now eh chuck. I saw a tail light assemblythat had a xxxxx-36 part number go for over $300US on Flea Bay and it was rusty. If you are truely restoring an antique to original you need original part numbers for the parts, reproduction parts won't cut it.
If you had say a '65 Electra Glide(my favorite) completely stock all original(there's one in my hometown here, original owner too) and all numbers match,it's worth a heck of a lot more than one that had "changes" done to it.
parts for Flatheads & Knuckle's are extremely rare,Pans could fit in there too,so original parts will fetch a high price.Shovel parts are getting much more difficult to find now too,so the value of stock/original shovel parts will start to climb.
There was no Custom Chrome,Drag,Bikers Choice or any aftermarket, you had to modify stock parts. "Chop", cut and weld
The guys way older than me used to tell me to make a chopper, you start the bike ,start taking parts off and when the bike quits put the last part back on and away ya go.
That's part of the reason why Flat,Knuc and Pan frames are so rare.

Here a '71 or '72 (CRS)whenever the Superglide came out with that godawful boat tail rear section. You will still find some original Shovels around, but getting fewer and farther between.
