just picked up my 2005 carbed Wide Glide and am pondering the choice of pipes. Am considering the screaming Eagle II slash-downs. Would like some feedback from those who have this setup concerning sound and performance.

SEII muffers tend to fill the gap between stock and aftermarket. Good performance, quality is great since they are made by Vance and Hines and a louder than stock sound.

Many choose to go that route to keep the piece in the neighborhood. Some just buy their neighbors earplugs

Don't be in a hurry to select a new set of pipes. Get around to some biker events and listen to the variations. I first thought about a set of Pythons, but went with a Vance and Hines Pro Pipe. Looks are one thing, sound another, and performance is always king in the end.

Yo, down the road,

Painter

Ditto what painter said. When I chose mine, I listened and considered appearance. Like I told the guy at the shop: "I don't care if I have to shoot some of the neighbors...but there a a couple that I actually like and would rather not". I went with the SE II's. Take your time and get what you want.
