I personally feel that the military focuses on the wrong things..... they focus on color of clothing, not clothing TYPE. I wear black leather...so have to wear a vest or other "brightly colored something" to meet requirements....BUT, I would meet regs if I had on light cotton scrub pants and an orange long sleeve t-shirt.... leather is by far better protection, but they only care about color..... If they really want to do it, do it RIGHT.....

I agree with you on the protection, I ride an Ultra Classic with a trunk and you can't see very much of me from the back, but I still have to wear the bright colored shirt. I have also visited several bases and the requirements are never the same. I actually work on one and can wear short sleeve shirt and tennis shoes if I like. I do wear the short sleeve shirt as it is more comfortable in the Southern California heat, but I always wear boots.
