| HELLO EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IM NAME IS LeRoy AND IM 16
WHEN I WAS IN THE 7TH GRADE I WANTED TO RESTORE MY DADS HONDA 750 ( WHICH HAD OVER 200,000 MILES ON IT) TO RIDE TO HIGHSCHOOL ..... 3 MONTHS LATER WE WERE HARD FOR MONEY AND HAD TO SELL IT TO THE NEIGHBOR FOR $300
DURING MY 8TH GRADE SUMMER MY DAD GOT A 1998 HD DYNA WIDEGLIDE FROM THE LOCAL CYCLE SHOP FOR $10,000 ( IT HAD WAY MORE STUFF ON IT THEN $10,000 )
AFTER THE FRST 3 DAYS OF OWNING IT MY DAD SAID "WE GOTA GET YOU ONE!!! "
A MONTH LATER WE SAW A BONE STOCK 1982 HD IRONHEAD SPORTSTER ON THE FRONT PORCH OF THIS GUYS HOUSE FOR $4000....... HE BUDGED DOWN TO $3500 BECASUE THATS ALL WE HAD....
I WASNT OLD ENOUGH TO GET A PERMET BUT I WAS DYING TO " LEARN " TO RIDE MY BIKE.
AND YES !!!!!!!! THIS WAS MY VERY FIRST MOTORCYCLE EVER, NO DIRT BIKE OR ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WAS TERIFIED TO RIDE IT BECASUE IT WAS SO DARN HIGH ( IM KINDA SHORT ) AND HEAVY !!!!!! " FOR ME "
AFTER A WHILE MY DAD AND I MADE SOME STRUTS TO LOWER IT AND LOVED THE "OLD SCHOOL CHOPPER LOOK" NOT THE KNEES IN THE CHEST STYLE THEY HAVE TODAY
WE PUT ALOT OF TLC INTO IT AND DID A COUPLE THINGS TO MAKE IT MY OWN ( AINT DONE YET EITHER)
MY NEXT 2 MAJOR THINGS ARE SOME APE HANGERS AND PIPES BUT I WANT THE APES MORE
WELL THATS MY STORY AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE WHAT YALL THINK!?!?!?!?!
I SAW THIS SITE BECASUE I WANT TO LEARN ABOUT WORKING ON THESE MONSTERS AND DONT WANT TO PAY $80 AN HOUR FOR REPLACING THE DISH SEAL ON MY CARB
I MYSELF GREW UP WITH ALOT OF MACHINST AND MADE ALOT OF THINGS FOR MY BIKE " INFACT AFTER THIS I NEED TO MAKE A NEW SHIFTER KNOB" BECAUSE ITS THE ORIGIONAL ONE SO NEEDLESS TO SAY 26 YEARS OF ABUSE AND MICKYMOUSE STUFF TOOK TOLE ON THE BIKE |

| Welcome! There are a few people that know something about motorcycles around here...and some even know about old iron!! Don't count on me for much!! couple things to think about with the exhaust/apes....would the exhaust be performance changes or looks changes? know the apes will be looks!! I would go performance first, but that is me. Sounds like you have a good shop and good tools to work on the "monster" I envy you on that. Mine is pretty slim pickings, but expanding as I need, tho no machinist in my pockets!!! oh, and one final word on the bike/new project..... get used to this...gotta have pics on projects here!!! |

| Look's like a cool iron head you have there , you can ask away & someone willchime in to help , like now I would get the kit to lower the front T signels to ride on the front tubes they make the front end look a lot cleaner look around & you'll find a set of the newer bullit style cheep at swap meets, C list the bay try to find both front & rear they clean up the look a lot , Make sure your drag pipes have some kinda baffle in there , it will help you out in the hp department ( more power )
I do like your bigger tanks & sissy bar you have a good start so listen to chuck ride safe & you'll ride as many years as both chuck & have as well as many members here |

| Nice ride. Good place to start and learn. My first street bike was an '82 Sportster as well. You should consider a Basic Rider Course to help conquer your fears of riding, especially with this being your first bike. Good luck! Keep the shiny side up! |

| Thanks for sharing your story and showing your sweet ride. I envy you, my father wouldn't let me get a bike so I had to join the service at 17 to get to my first ride - and it wasn't near as nice as yours. Ride safe! |
