| I wonder how much this will actually affect the aftermarket? Will it just be an added challenge to build things to meet EPA requirements, things like pipes? Certainly sounds draconian, I'll admit. What's the BAD part about it is the once in a lifetime custom deal. Will builders like OCC be out of business or will they have to jump the hoops on every custom to get it EPA approved, thus increasing costs dramatically? Or, will they be forced into building standard platforms? Will the engine builders get the EPA approval for these bikes instead of the builder and how will that affect choices in construction, like pipes which are an important integral part of the styling of a custom? Most of these bikes aren't built to actually ride, but seems like this could put some of the custom builders out of business if I read things right. I don't know that it will kill the aftermarket, though, but it sure won't help the aftermarket. Older bikes may be in high demand in the future due to these regulations. |
