| Have you ever noticed that when something goes WRONG in the house, it is WELL after hours...... I just had one of my toilets "blow up"....well, actually, more like bubble, bubble, fill, fill, fill.....OVERFLOW, OVERFLOW, OVERFLOW....now my question is THIS: Is it the toilet that is blocked up, or is it my main.... I THINK the washing machine might have been on drain cycle.....SO, there is the problem.... I AM NOT going to call a plumber and pay for the "after hours call"....will wait until morning to find out what they think. Think I need another beer to think on this problem..... if anyone has any ideas or suggestions before I call the plumber, let me know!!! (By the way, anyone know the approx. cost for a service call by roto-rooter??) |

| you dont state if you flushed it, or it just started backing up......if you flushed, it is stopped up between the toilet and main drain.......if it started backing up on its own, the blockage is down line.......possibly a root in the line or some other blockage......line colapsed...ect..... if city sewer, they "may" have a problem. an after hours service call normally requires a key to the bank and your first born male!!!!!!

| well, started bubbleing on it's own....I may have compounded the issue by flushing one time (clear) but having a 5 year old, would not have been suprised by something being "stuck down there"....... GRAY water came up about 15 minutes after the flush.....I am REALLY thinking that I remember hearing the washer in drain cycle.....leads me to believe that I have a block "down stream" someplace..... I HOPE it isn't my side of the city line....but, not sure how I will tell short of hiring ROTO ROOTER or similar to clear my end first....THEN I can call the city and tell them they have a problem.... I have no son, just a great daughter....and as I don't plan on donating her for another 15+ years if "I" can help it, think I will call someone in the morning....BUT put downstairs bathroom AND laundry room on notice until after!!! |

| Well, Roto Rooter just left...... was REALLY happy that I could live with waiting so I did not have the "emergency call" part of the bill. Cost was a bit less then I thought it COULD be. Now to finish cleaning up the mess from last nite! |

| Hi had that same problem last year. I apparently have root growing into the drain "just this side" of the main. The rooter guy said after all is said and done about $2500 for back hoe and crew. I poured about a gallon of liquid plumber down the drain and (knock on wood) havent had a problem since.
Good luck!!

| A friend of mine had a similar problem. His happened at 2:00 AM when he flushed the toilet. It backed up big time. He ended up removing the toilet to find that it was a toy truck his son Cameron flushed down the toilet. It was lodged a little beyond where you could see from above.

| That little Bast....
My brother in law found out that my littlest boy at the time had a proclivity for watching Hot Wheels swirl around and around and around...well, this time it went around and stuck....HARD. Had to dang near chisel the thing out of there. Of course, it didn't cause a problem until there was some sort of semi-solid object that needed to, er, "pass" the location of the Hot Wheel, where of course it became lodged....like cement. Pewwwww. Glad I was deployed at the time for THAT one!!!
