| So i was doing this toy run, for the shriner's burn unit in galveston, wich was a blast, so many people showed up it was awsome. JJ's puts it together.
On the way to the hospital, were cruzin over this causeway, and in a blink of an eyelash, i notice my saddle bag lid shooting straight up twirling as it dissappears over the bridge!!!!!! Notta thing i could do about it, bikes in front of me, bikes behind me, not to mention were on top of the causeway wich seems like 300 feet!!! Shaking my my head in disbelief, as i am trying so hard not to rant, rave ,yell ,scream , and cuss...........
we finally get to the hospital, and my wife the person she is just goes up to these kids and hands out stuffed animals, that she had stashed or should i say tried to hide in the saddle bag, yupp the one missing the lid........
so i swallow my ego, and i let this whole thing just slide, after all this was not about my bike or me, it was about the kids
Now it's Monday a new week, i start looking for a saddle bag lid, the usaual places, and my jaw drops when i find out how much these lids are goin for.
175 bucks and up with no latchs no paint no natta
so if any body has a lid that will fit my bike, and wants to let it go for a fair price let me know please.........i will buy it!!!!
have a great day

| I feel your pain....I have been looking for a new tour pak.....or new to me tour pak.....even the USED ones are going for TOP dollar! You may look on Ebay...no guarentee, but I think I have seen something like that listed once or twice (don't know what they were asking, AND would still require paint to match the bike...). It IS all about the kids, but I feel your pain!

| Not sure what size, style, etc but here's a few I found doing a search. Much cheaper than retail! Saddle Bag Lids
Hope that helps.
BTW, I copied this thread over to the Buy/Sell forum to see if anyone else can help you out.

| the latches are held by rivets, they can be drilled very easily. you will need the new latches for fitment..some of the old holes may line up, if not a bit of fiberglass will cure that problem. yes i am still interested in the hitch... |

| Chuck
story of my life. my truck is still in the shop!!!! this must be one kick arse motor, that billy bunch is putting together,it's been more than a month, every week he say's maybe monday!!!!! hoping this week will be my week, fingers crossed. if i by chance do get it back this week, i will be wanting to put miles on the new motor anyway, so paying a visit, would be just what the doctor ordered...
will let you know, when i have transpo to get up there, i still havent taken my bike back to jj's ethier, still waiting for my truck!!!
so i am limited on how far i can travel.
i have to have my bike regeared ,70 mph is screamin right now
70 mph = 4000 rpms
plus it still needs to be jetted correctly
just waiting ........and waiting
