| GrayBear, as a member of the military, I must agree with you... as much as I HATE some of the things said about me (me being the whole of the military), I MUST respect their right to say it. They in turn MUST respect my right to dislike them for it. I will, however, continue to pursue protecting their rights even if their yellow liver belly self is to scared to protect those rights themselves and just use them against "me". It appears that the owner is trying to make amends.
Keep in mind that even before this "rukus" that MANY companies do NOT deliver overseas to APO addresses. Company policy, shipping "restrictions" for their profit margin..already exist. Try being stationed in Germany....not even Iraq.....you QUICKLY find which companies ship to you and which do not. Lands End, Bass Pro Shop, Cabellas, and many more ship.....many others do NOT. when you place an internet order, look for the APO, FPO, AA, AE, and some of those other areas...if all you see is the 50 states (and restrictions to Alaska and Hawaii) then they probably do NOT ship overseas.
As to the thousands of men and women that are now living on the streets due to PTSD.... That is possible, however the military and VA are trying very hard to determine who those are before they end up there. Those members have rights to be treated with the VA for free, and if they are on the streets are probably experiencing the same issues that most street people feel which causes them to refuse treatment.....phobias, paranoia, and others. They must be willing to be treated before they can be. that is why they end up on "skid row". Family almost never turns their back...it is almost always the person with the mental illness (yes, PTSD is one of the mental illnesses), however, they have often run out of energy to activly care for someone unwilling to care for self. They would be more then willing to receive this member back into care when they have the willingness to care for self.
Enough of my muses.... all sides will present enticing evidence to their way of thinking.

Nurse | I hear what you are saying. I am against the wars in Viet Nam and Iraq but not for the reasons usually stated in the press coverage. I never participated in an anti war rally and will not.
I feel that we never belonged there in the first place but the real reason I'm anti war is that I see the government not supplying the proper support to the troups, both wars. Politicians should run the business of government and the Military should plan and run the wars, including the responsibility to determan what is needed to win.
This country has a rich history of not taking proper care of Vetrans and it crosses all political parties and generatioins. I get sick of watching this country repeatedly rebuilding our defeated enemies only to have them turn on us yet again. I suspect that the State Department has too much to say.
Apo and Fpo s should be the same as Main Street USA
Her's hoping for a brighter future and thanks for serving |
