Ever notice how the SUV-RUB yuppies will cut ya off all week on the way to work and then wanna wave at ya from their "ride"...........
Must be some type of Magic in those Harley Davidson Bandannas they got on.. or maybe the magic rings...or the magic socks.... or maybe..nevermind....
Half the time I can tell them a mile away before they pass me (oncoming...)
Yeah I profile...ok..(welcome to the real world)........Most got their hand in the air and all...... I just keep on going...just because we ride does not mean I gotta be all buddy-buddy comrade in arms with ya...... I just don't feel like it.....does that make me Grumpy...fickle or what? I try to wave a low peace sign or the what not.. but after a while come on....then again the first time I get snobbed... I get a bit pissy..like well who the heck are you not to wave back...LOL...guess that makes me a double standard hypocrit...LOL
Wow all this important things to know...(LIKe I really care) but hey.... just wondered.. anyone else ever notice that or feel the same way....I'd hate to be alone in this big world... Later,
The Voodoo1

you've hit a pet peeve..what really grinds me is when we're in rush hour and i'm trying to be civilized and not lane split..[used to do it all the time in Montreal 30 odd years ago but it's not socially acceptable here..or legal neither] and the rube in the black ford f150 with the Bar and Shield sticker in the back window just crowds his way in my lane. I'm on a "fly yellow" Ducati ST2..that's a pretty loud colour hard to not see it I'd think. The truck's about 4000 lbs heavier than my Ducati so whattaya do? give the poor lad some room, ride up beside him wave hi and and then ride off..lane split that is. when I go to sturgis the only thing worse than a good number of the riders are a good number of the "riders" "driving" their ride there..I don't mind the agressive stuff but there's a limit. I'm amazed that more people don't get killed.

Damn, I drive an F250 Super duty, I hope I'm not gonna be lumped into some nasty catagory. I've never cut off a biker, lots of other cagers for being a-holes, but never a bike. I always wave the low peace sign, to ALL other bikers, I thought it was the love of the wind we share not just the same brand of bike.....Maybe I'm different, I dunno. Does it make me a RUB that I was finally able to afford my first H-D at 38? I hope not, I have always loved the sound of H-D's, and way back to when I rode on the back of my uncles bike. (Former Pagan BTW) I have always ridden dirt bikes and such, since about age 8, hopefully that'll grandfather me into the "club". Just my little opinion and small soap box minute.

my issue is with the guys that cut me off. Half the Ford F150's sold in Canada are sold here in alberta. The guys driving them believe in the laws of physics. The city has outgrown the roads..just crazy here and it makes for some agressive driving. I get particularly irate when I see a bike related sticker on the vehicle...they should just know better than to drive like that In all fairness not too many people cut you some slack here ...cars trucks ...whatever..that ford just stuck out as well as a "few" folks on I 90. RUBS..boy there's a topic as well. I got called one at Sturgis a bunch of years ago cause I was on an EVO. I got a Ducati and a Harley..maybe I'm a RUB..it doesn't matter. There are always going to be partitions in the motorcycling community and partitions within those partitions. We all gotta be me somehow somewhere..enjoy the ride.

Good thing you said that...I was gettin nervous. I don't really care what I'm called, I've been called worse, by alot more people, for alot more things than riding a newer H-D. F*** em anyway, that's what I say! Enjoy the ride! (and where, BTW, does it say in the "biker handbook" that all H-D have to be black and you can't ride anything newer than a 1980??) Guess we're not "hardcore" or somethin'.

Rich Urban Biker
A neighborhood I gotta pass by on my way to works is basically well to do..(good for them)...I get cutt-off more there than anywhere else on the way to work.....shoot thru there on a weekend and you will see real sweet bikes..of all kinds.....as I this is happening they're waving from the parking lots...gas stations......etc..during they are pulling out in front of me from the smae places!!!! When I go to an event and see someone decked out in all the gear....regardless of the type of bike and they kill it twice in the parking lot..typically it is a RUB..... all the gear (good for them) and none of the ability to function safely on their bike...... We have a Quaker stake and Lube up here they gather at...nice bikes!!! nice looking people (good for them) all the money and gear and no skills is a RUB..they have it just to pose for a bit and go home.... like it is the in thing.. next they sell their bike for ball room dancing..RUD(rich urban dancers)LOL)that does not make em all that way.. I know some people that go all out and and hey the got the money and are basically "fans" of the sport of riding.. (good for them.. the ones I don't like I call Rubs!!!!..LOL......l know ugly people with no money and bikes.. that can't ride for crap they are called a wanna-be..... then the knuckleheads like me...... I ride as often as I can..with anyone willing to ride as far as I can go..... it is all in fun..but dang the Rub-wave ? Hey good for them... the wind.. good for us.. LOL...it is all good!!! I know the comradery is deeper than riding the bike... that is where they lose...wave on day.. then cut me off next.. wave then cut me off maybe I 'll find a new way to work. It really PEEVES me when the Big Bar and Shield logo is splashed all over their window and woosh... like ya are not even there.....LOL.... UGGHH!!!..... Ford trucks... Ahhhh I am all about the Bowtie!!!!! I do not judge ..just catagorize.......LOL..... oh well ...it was all in the spirit of conversing with everyone on here...

Voodoo1, I think you need to change therapists, the one you currently have isn’t working…or it might just another one of them anger issues…

Here's the thing that I've always wondered.... Of all the stickers that I have seen, how do you tell who really owns the machine the sticker is representing? I'm on my third HD and been riding since 92. Ride to work all year, regardless of weather. I put a HD sticker on my wife's car. It's a small (maybe 2.5" x 3" just under the center break light on the rear glass) sticker and unobtrusive. So with this in mind, is it reasonable to say that the smaller the sticker the more hardcore the rider? Because I have been cut off by cagers with some big f--kin HD stickers in the rear window blocking their friggin view of me as I'm riding in the next lane!!

I also find that I wave at 80% of bikers regardless of what they are riding. If I'm working on stopping or going and can't wave, I'll nod. Do they all wave back, no. Do I care, no. Does it upset me, no, because some riders just shouldn't remove their hands from the grips becasue they just started riding and are still learning. I've also ridden in large groups with metrics and sport bikes while riding to military cemeteries in foreign countries to honor those that sacrificed their life for my freedom to ride whatever the hell bike I want to ride. I don't care if you've been riding 30 years or 30 minutes, at least you are attempting to join a great pastime and will hopefully have a better understanding of the problems you have caused in your cage before you, hopefully, got a clue.

Oh, and as a MSF instructor and former police motorcycle operator, just becasue you've owned X number of bikes, ridden 100,000+ miles, X number of years, still doen't mean you "know" how to ride. I've seen the "hardcore" biker in MSF classes being outridden by women riders and people just starting on their 1st bike.

Killer, yeah, I'm saying that my bike is Glacier white pearl....... I didn't want to be like everyone else, same reason I ride a Dyna, when there's no other Dynas around my neck of the woods. Same reason I am doing the 240 rear tire kit as well. I want to be different, like I have been my whole life. I do my own thing and don't give a f*** what anyone else thinks. Is that a bad thing? Does that make me a poser? Don't misunderstand the tone of my reply, I ain't pissed, just don't like being grouped in with the RUB's, or posers. I have to work for them, don't want to be grouped with them as well. Also, when I ride, right or wrong, safe or not, I usually go out in my work clothes......jeans, work boots, and a cut off T-shirt. If its cold I wear my leather jacket, that's it. I would ride to work, but riding a bike dragging ladders, tool belt, saw and such would look kinda funny, wouldn't it?????

Killer..good point on the shirt/sticker..the shirt ?yeah you're right, the sticker ? I was trying to make sure it didn't run me over. Up this way, there's a lot of money floating around..[booming economy and all] Lots of guys buying new trucks and new bikes, I've been here for 30 years..never seen it like the way it is now. This wasn't a kid in a rusted out 83 Silverado with the stickerI'm talking about.
I have never put a Harley sticker on any of my vehicles up to this point in time. We had such a problem with Harleys getting stolen and I don't know what it was like your way but there was a two year waiting list to get a new Harley here a dozen years ago. I didn't want to risk someone either following me home/casing the place and finding out that I did have a bike and then getting it ripped off. I've been broken into once already..not a fun thing to go through.
I do have an AMA sticker on my fiance's car.[my old car] and a Ducati sticker on both.
Deathwind, you're correct on your point on MSF classes. I let my licence lapse 21 years ago and had to go retake the skills portion of the test and promptly flunked..talk about a kick in the bag and a shot to the ego. It was the best thing that could have happened. I worked with a friend who was a motorcycle safety instructor and practiced for a month..the next time
I went for the test..I was ready. I still have some weak areas that need to be worked on. I picked up the Ride like a pro DVD...some good tests in there and will work on the problem areas.
Voodoochild, if you got a small trailer to pull behind the dyna you could throw your stuff in it and you'd burn less gas than you would with that big 'ol Ford....You'd be stuck a little on the ladder size though...

If you can believe it my wife actually had that idea already!?!? I was like what the f***, I'm not towing a trailer behind my bike! I ride to get away from work and it's nonsense, not tag it along behind me. Believe me if I had a job where I could ride to work everyday, I certainly would try.

The way I get treated on the highway on the bikes or even the little Saturn lately i'm about ready to get one of those big Fords and have a little fun Getting back to the trailer thing, it ain't so bad once you realize that it feels like you are not riding a bike I've been pulling one for about 10 years now. Get up in the high passes of Colorado two up and there are times where it gets to be a bit of a bother but on the whole, a good way to travel two up on vacation.

I got the HOG sticker on my car and my wife's. though she doesn't ride she knows I do and is very aware of the bikes on the road. FYI, I see a bike coming the other way and I give the low peace sign. If it is not returned , yea I get a little pissy.

That'd be a pretty big freakin trailer, I have a GMC 3500 full size extended van I drive for work that's packed with tools. If my bike could even pull it that would be a miracle.

I think the worse thing on the road is the cell phone. If somebody's pulling on to the highway from a on ramp and they have a phone planted on their face it's almost a sure bet they're just gonna pull on and expect traffic to merge with them.

But, I notice most folks give motorcycles a lot of space and consideration. It's just that the idiot's stick out cuz they almost kill us and stuff.

I try to wave no matter what, but the % of people riding is growing so fast it seems that eventually waving will probably not be that popular.
The MSF courses up here book up real fast. Lot's of people want to ride.

I told my wife we will be heading out towards my folks' small town where I grew up. pop. less than 5k..... oh... one store..land...gas station.....out there you gotta just dodge tractors on narrow roads.....LOL.... yikes!!! funny you mention cell phones I had my wife following me last summer in the car... She saw me have to dodge a BMW/blonde all buried up on the phoen in her left hand!!!!!! through the enter section she came light and all...... good thing it was only 25mph.... I saw her and no brake lights so I just kinda cracked the pipes she crammmed on her brakes..I shot passed the hood and my wife(in the car behind me) gave her hell...till the light changed I just sat on the other side and watched.....

One of these days I'm gonna wedge that phone in somebody's a**. I swear, what is so f*cking important that you have to be on that damn thing. In Jersey, you're supposed to use a headset, supposed to be mandatory, but never enforced! Between the damn phone, shaver, newspaper, and makeup, what the f**k!! I thought cages were for driving?? Ok, I'm stepping down from the soap box now. (good thing I'm in the right area of the forum)
