| I am a member of the American Legion Riders out of Converse Tx..... got an email today that just blows my mind...... Here is part of it:
For those of you who left shortly after the ALR Exec meeting last night you may not know that the hall was virtually demolished last night around 9:30. One of our new Auxilliary ladies drove right through the wall where Stu and I were sitting last night. She drove clear through the room, hit the opposite side of the hall so hard it knocked the bricks off the wall around the memorial. Then she apparantly threw her SUV in reverse attempting to escape by the looks of the skid marks. She slammed into the rear curtains near the back exterior door and finally gave it up. Needless to say Converse's finest showed up in force. Said driver was arrested for DUI. Ruben and I left around 11 so don't know how late Brad and Stu were there helping Denny board things up, etc.
Hope that she has insurance, hope that it covers rebuilding the place.....I am sorry to see that it was one of our Auxillary ladies....but hope she gets what she deserves . Doesn't sound like anyone was hurt, but could have very easily! |

| well, the update that I have is that the cops are investigating and 2 insurance companies are investigating.....not sure what the outcome will be, but can't think that she will come out smelling like roses..... be my guess that she will get spanked by the courts and the insurance companies also! Only time will tell. It was a blessing that nobody got physically hurt.....that sorta thing leaves LOTS of room for that. |

At least you guys "had" a place....My Legion meetings are held in what the park district calls "the log cabin" (its a small 1 room building that is built to look like a log cabin) No alcohol is allowed since it is on park district property or otherwise we might have the same problem. However there are some guys at my post who can hardly walk, let alone drive...I could see one of them blasting through the walls one of these days just because of the age factor. Im the second youngest guy at my post (40) & it just goes up from there. Seems like younger guys don't want to join anymore....I probably wouldn't have joined if it wasn't for my old man. |
