| Global warming..hmmmm? Gonna be close to 90º today and 95º this weekend here in Las Vegas. I ain't ready for the heat just yet. It's still Spring..ain't it?
Not gonna ride down to the Laughlin River Run this weekend..been there done that too many times (even though it's less than 100 miles from the house). Besides..it'll be 100º down there! Gonna be some red lobsters riding around. |

| I believe the global warming issue is really just a scare tactic to get us to us less oil for two reasons. One, reduce our dependency on oil and two, reduce all tail pipe emissions with fuel efficiency.
Like Greybear says, we got to make oil useless.
The only other way to force people to drive fuel efficient vehicles is to hit em in the pocket book and raise gas to $10.00 or more per gallon like in Europe. But this is a catch 22. As soon as we all start driving fuel efficient cars then the price of gas will go down. And when gas goes down people will go back to driving big cars.
So if we use the Global Warming thing as an excuse (basically saying, don’t worry about whether it is true or not) it will force us to keep driving fuel efficient cars and keep us looking into alternative power no matter if gas prices go down again.
I’m all for the scare tactic. |

| Good article. I don't know that there are many out there with the experience Mr. Bryson has. His theory makes sense to me but I know that I am biased on anything that comes out of Al Gore. It only makes sense to me that the earth's temp would normally vary a few degrees either way over hundreds or thousands of years. The ice ages, land movements and ocean level changes seem to bear this out. I cannot imagine that the sun would maintain the exact same output for billions of years and that would seem to be the major contribution to our temperature variations.
All this is too deep for me anyway. I think I'll just go for a ride.
