In the meantime, what's the Legislature proposing?....more strict gun control!
Think about it, that was a typical school campus, gun free zone...playground for the criminally insane, what's gonna happen when the whole nation becomes a "gun-free zone"? Do they actually believe that with this ban, the criminals will turn in their un-registered or stolen weapons?!!!!!
Good point! A defenceless population is easy prey for any and all takers, even within. 'All snakes are feared, but only very few are deadly and even the nonvenomus ones mimic the deadly ones for defence'. When the country becomes defenceless we lose our basic freedoms, a nation of pushovers. We're not quite there yet!

This is sweeeeet, now I have 4 states I can move to!! The only problem with ME carrying a weapon is I would USE it! Some MF would come up and try to jack me and that would be it........pop, pop, pop, done. Ahhh, maybe I'd better stay here in NJ.

Some lady wrote into the Las Vegas Review-Journal the day after the VT shooting saying if there had been stronger gun control, the shooter might not have been able to get the guns and commit this act.

Man..several now are coming out of the woodwork writing the paper blasting her. Things like if we were all armed, it could have thwarted it. The killer would have gotten his guns elsewhere..etc. Glad to see the conservatives in Nevada chiming in.

Even Sen. Harry Reid of (NV) (US Senate Majority Leader), who I'm garnering more than a bitter taste in my mouth for, states nows not the time to talk about gun control. Many Democrats are saying the same thing as they know they lost Congress in the early 90s due to their gun control stance. There will be few, like Sen. Feinstein (CA) who are gonna push and always push for gun control (she won't lose her seat in liberal California), but in states like Montana where a few Democrats pulled off upsets due to the distaste for the Iraq war, they know their constituants will blast em if they talk about taking away their gun rights.

Columbine didn't cause any new gun control, even though there was a short burst of debate in the wake of it for it. Many are saying the same thing right now about the VT incident.

On a side note, I wouldn't object to banning people who've been involuntarily locked up for mental disability from buying a weapon. The VT killer was, and a background check could/should show that. Maybe things would be different.

You are absolutely correct SK, had they reported him dangerous and there was a law on the books for such he would have been denied buying a gun. I also think green card carriers should not be allowed to buy guns. That to would have stopped the little coward.

Hey its lightly snowing here in Reno, good thing I flew in.

Reno? You attending a convention? If it wasn't for finals week coming up, I'd ride up and say hello. Though the weather is supposed to be cool this weekend..maybe even rain. Still thinking of maybe moving to Reno/Carson City in a year or two (Newport, OR isn't out of the question either..maybe a vacation place there first). I love Virginia City and wouldn't mind the commute into town.

Had my last lecture today. Last final is next Friday and I'm done! Gonna have a party right after the final here at the house..supposed to be high 80s out. Gonna be a great party with a bunch of young gals.

So SK, does this mean your done with school. I wished you could ride up its boring here by myself and no wheels. So far the home inspection conference has been pretty boring but I need the credit hours for my state requirements.

That would be cool if you were in Newport give me a reason to ride there more often.

Red Rider said. ”The Virginia legislature had a chance to allow licensed concealed weapons to be carried on Virginia tech” But they turned it down .If that is true I wonder if they realize they had a hand in some of the deaths.

Folks have said they wouldn’t give up there guns if they were made illegal. This is how it is done. Case in point. City of Orlando Police Dept. will give any one $20.00 if they turn any gun in no questions asked. You would not believe the beautiful guns they got. They show them on TV. If they were not stolen they could have made a lot of money at the gun shop. You could tell the dirt bags that were turning them in didn’t own them. Later Ole ted

SK, you are THE man! That's beyond great, and you have plenty of time to enjoy that sheep's skin! 50 is the beginning of life, I know 'cause I've been looking at it for nine years now.

A very hardy Congratulations!!!

If Cho didn't have a gun he would have used a bomb. I'd bet anyone.

If he had would they want to ban 2 inch water pipe??

Isn't that what you use to make bombs? I saw it on Terminator 1.

That reminds me of a joke: What do you do when a Blonde throws a ring at you?

Run like hell cause she has a hand grenade in her mouth.

Had a co worker speak in a manner blaming the gun and I told him that If I had bought the gun it could not have killed but another gun would and If you look hard enough it would be the same person holding the other gun. correct I asked. his response was point well made. also this is a live poll correct not a government funded and look at where the 100% is there clinton. Which brings on another subject, I was listening to the XM the other night and they had Bill on there and He done more jumping around the do you support or the do you think Hillery would be questions somuch, I think he might go with some one else.

Well man I am 100% with you, IF that was the way it would/will go down. But it wouldn't be like that. If it happens it will be house to house sweeps and resistence will be met with total force. So, if we let it come to that people will have to have made some serious, life and death choices. So think about them NOW. Don't tell me what they are or even what you think they are because I don't wanna know and you are better off keeping quiet on them.I have heard a lot of folks quote the "from my cold dead fingers" line..but how many are ready to walk that walk?

Membership in the NRA is a double edged sword, but worth it with a few precautions, It does give the gun grabbers acess to who supports the second ammendment. But it is also a powerful lobby. But what the NRA and all of us need is the recruitment of new blood. We need to get our kids, grandkids and thier friends involved. Most people now think the NRA is a bunch of old guys that are straight, conservative and Christian. And thats fine. Personally I dont give a rats a** about a persons sexual orientation, religion or lack of it, gender or anything else except do they suport the Constitution and wish a return to being governed by it. And once you reach out to some of that "fringe" you find that except for one thing they think a lot like we do. Not all sure but some. And in the fight to keep our government from being snatched away and ruled by world opinion instead of the Constitution, every body and vote counts. Gays with pink pearl handgrips on thier .357 and soccer moms that have an NRA decal next to the "My child is an honor student" bumper sticker doesn't fit the stereotype...but it makes people think outside the box and may wind up saving us having to make the decision I mentioned earlier.....

When Cho boy the coward was deemed mentally unstable and a threat to himself then a red flag should have gone up when he applied to purchase a gun. Good god that's what the back ground check is for is it not. We need to keep the guns away from the crazies and the green card holders.

I agree about the crazies, but have to disagree about the green card holders. If I chose to make a move to the US with my (US based) company and was lucky enough to get the green card, I'd be proud enough of it to use it wisely. I'm a keen hunter and target shooter, and living in the US would be shooting heaven for me, after the draconian laws they have here. I know people from the UK/Australia/New Zealand who have green cards, and they take them very seriously, and understand they are a privelige not a right.

Don't mix us with the wasters that barely speak English! I deal with them every day and it does my head in!
