I wasn't aware of it until you said something but that's a bunch of Bull**it. They will have to pry my guns from my dead hands first. Since when did guns start killing people?? That's like saying spoons made Rosie O'donnel fat!? WTF, our government is made up of a bunch of f'ing idiots! (I guess I shouldn't reply to a post when I'm irritated, huh.....)

You can for $60.00 get finger printed at the local P.D. take a 4 hour class and get a state conceled weapons license. The weapon must be kepted concealed. Untill you or your familys life is threatened.I don't no about other states.

Imagine having that job... Knock Knock, "I'm here to collect all your guns and ammo sir".

My opinion is guns are part of the checks and balances we need in this country. I'll keep mine.

I'm a life member of the NRA so you can guess how I stand on this subject. Our friends in Australia and England can probably tell us some horror stories about when they take up the guns and crush them all..."assault" weapons, hunting rifles and shotguns, pistols, antique guns, ......all of them. I read stories and saw the pictures of the guns under the crusher in Australia. It can happen here. Just let the democrats get a little more power, such as the White House, and watch our rights melt away. If you're not a member of the NRA, you should join. They're the only ones trying to protect the Second Amendment.

People don't care anymore. they don't want to work for anything they think the goverment is there to give me give me. Janis joplim said it all when she sang Oh Lord won't you buy me a mercedes-benz. Most people in U.S.A. would give up there seat in Hell for a free goverment car.

I'm a Lifetime member of the NRA too (don't really care for some of what they have to say, but they're the biggest organization with clout to save our rights). But I don't see any article saying something big is going down. Usually I'd get an email about something like this. I just got a few about being able to shoot on BLM lands here in Nevada and things like that, but no national thing about the 2nd Amendment. What gives?

I got my CCW here in Nevada, though it's not good in states like California and many others. There should be a law that allows you to carry nationwide if you qualify..basically take a class..show you can handle the weapon..not be a felon.

way I figure it, they can come TO my house, provide me a list of all serial numbered weapons that they think I have..... they will wait on the porch, I will go check numbers.....IF I feel like it and IF any match, MAYbe THEY CAN HAVE THOSE.....but not likely......would be interesting to see which ones they think I own tho!!!

I'm not sure what BikerJim was specifically referring to, but there is an article in the May issue of Outdoor Life that talks about "the most expansive gun ban legislation in history... making the so-called assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 trifling by comparison. The measure reaches beyond the parameters of the 1994 legislation and targets firearms regularly used for sporting, hunting and competition purposes."

The legislation (H.R. 1022) is sponsored by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY)...that figures. I don't know much more that this but it sounds serious to me, especially with a Dem majority. Any law that the gun hating Democrats propose can be counted on to be against anything I believe.

The Democrats have a pretty slim majority, and several are not for a major ban because their constituency would have a fit (they do want to get re-elected). I think any legislation that hit our 2nd Amendment pretty hard would have a hard time passing.

Then again..they'd have to figure out the combo to my 700 lb safe to see what I have inside. "Oh gee..my Alzeimers must be getting worse..can't remember the damn combo!" Las Vegas Metro does have two serial numbers for when I recently registered them to get my CCW. I don't see them spending much time checking up on me..they're pretty busy doing other things in this town.

I hope you're right, SK but I don't trust any of them when their reelection is at stake. If we get another Clinton in there (God forbid), there will be all kinds of deals cut to buy votes on a gun ban. Her husband did it and that is the one that just expired. You remember the ban on high capacity magazines. Who would have thought they could get that through? It's all about taking baby steps to where they want to be......all of our guns taken up. They take a little here and a little there and before you know it, they're cutting our safes open to get what they want. I'm afraid forgetting the combination or not letting them in the door won't work on this one.

If we could get all the people that own guns to join the NRA, it would be a force to contend with. And if those people would all vote, they wouldn't have a chance.

I know exactly what you mean, Dutch. I throw most of the solicitations away but it's not just scare talk. We've all seen and heard the talk about taking up the guns. That senator Finestine from California and her cronies, Kennedy, Carey, Clinton, etc, have said that if they had their way, they would take them all (guns). I have have quite a few of most types of guns from hunting rifles to skeet shotguns to all kinds of pistols. More than I could ever shoot but I have them and the right to keep them as long as I stay within the law. I also have grandchildren that I hope will want them someday. I don't always agree with the NRA either but as I said earlier, there's not another organization trying to protect our rights as they are. I help them when I can.

thinking of all my neighbors, just on my street, that would be ugly!!!!
first off, they would need an 18 wheeler or 2 to collect the guns, second they would need a bunch of people, cause every family on the street would be like you want them, come and get them.......remember the alamoooooo!!!!
