| Don't mean to offend any of Her Majesty's subjects, but what is the big deal with royalty? I mean all this foodeedoo just because the queen is visiting. I'm not much for worshipping celebrities, and "royalty" are basically folks that had relatives that were rich and powerful enough to pass their money down the line. I'd no more bow to the queen than to Bill Gates. Has she been a positive influence in peoples' lives? Probably, but she could afford to be - and probably couldn't afford not to be.
Maybe I'm a repressed sore loser, as I am descended from "royal" blood - but it probably doesn't count, as it was French! I'm also descended from Ireland, but really I'm just an American - like Jesse Jackson, Rush Limbaugh, Ward Churchill, and George W. Bush!
If you really honor royals, please explain why to this colonial. I'll try not to bee too common in my perspective! |

| When Princess Diana was killed it was the big story for months.
Then Mother Teresa dies and barely got a days worth of coverage. Mother Teresa spent most of her life helping the poor and miserable living in squalor and disease. A true martyr.
As much as some worship celebrity, we also like to see them fall...
Paris Hilton comes to mind.... I wonder if she'll make a video in prison |

| It just boils down to the lame brain intellect of society as a whole. Here is an example: Last fall IKEA opened a new store in our area. As part of the grand opening promotion they were giving away a free chair worth $70.00 to the first 250 customers. Three days prior to the grand opening people showed up in the parking lot with tents, coolers of food, and lawn chairs. These idiots took 2 days off from work and spent 3 days camping in the parking lot for a free chair. And of course, the idiots from the local news stations were right there with them to cover this great event.
I mean, give me a f&#king break. How many of these same idiots would camp out for 3 days to help homeless people or abused children? Unfortunately the media can't seem to get beyond sensationalizing the antics of those they deem to be the so called important or beautiful people, and there's enough branless idiot's out there that follow this crap. Why is it you never see the people that spend every day helping others in need getting praised by the media. Does anyone really care, and will it really make a positive difference to know how many more children Brad and Angelina will adopt from Africa? Why don't they adopt children from the country that made them millionaires?
If the media and people would focus on the real issues and needs of this country, and quit paying attention to idiots like big mouth Rosie Odonell, and Paris Hilton, they would just fade away into the woodwork and be forgotten. |

| Not to hard to get me going on this kind of stuff. I'm with you and just ignore it. Just gets tirering everytime you see one of these Bozo's that think they've done something that no other person in the history of humanity has ever done. I'll try to keep under a 100 mph on my next post. |

| Well, I have to say I'm with all of ya that have responded so far. What I was hoping for was someone from a country with royalty that actually valued them to explain why they would. I didn't even want to be combative with anyone, just wanted to hear an alternative view.
While protecting and defending the USA and our Constitution I've met some "royals" from other countries - mostly Arab and Asian, with a few lords from the UK (though they were knighted for deeds performed in the service of Her Majesty - and military - so they weren't your Paris Hilton types), and never saw any of them as other than human on par with this mongrel colonial! So I am still keen on measuring a person on what they have done, and not who their mommy or daddy was. |

| I've always had a problem with all the royal treatment heaped on folks that did nothing but be born. They won the lottery right out of the womb. They said it took 30 people to help get the queen dressed in the morning. I wonder how many it takes to get her to the bathroom. |

| Seems a lot of folks forget we fought two wars kicking thier "royal" but the heck out of out business. But that was back in the days when we were Americans....imagine what a group of folks that started a new country and cut away from all they knew over a half cent tax on tea would do with todays gas prices....
