| I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue.
Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table...everywhere. Then some of the birds turned mean: They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud: They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.
After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be...quite, se rene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal.
Now let's see . . . our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free education and allows anyone born here to be a automatic citizen.
Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families: you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor: your child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English.
Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to press "one" to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than "Old Glory" are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties.
Maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder. |

| You really are more than just a pretty face, aren't ya Chuck.
Brother I couldn't agree more. Problem is most of the idiot's in Washington are bird brains, so their at the feeder with the one's they want to save. I said it before and I'll say in again. People better wake up and realize our country is being stripped of it's heritage and is being given away piece by piece to those that want to destroy it.
THE TIME IS NOW FOR AMERICANS TO LOCK AND LOAD, MAKE A STAND AND TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK. |

| Amend!! I used the exact same analogy about our bird feeder. I told my wife the birds were not going to know how to fend for themselves after a few generations living off the feeder. We are already several generations past that point with our welfare system. Now, our brilliant legislators are wanting to add millions more to the welfare roles with their new plan to legalize the illegals. |

| Amen Chuck!! Instead of taking down the feeder, you should use it as target practice!! Maybe the government should do the same.... |

| Great analogy Chuck, but your wrong about the tens of thousands, its millions. As far as why don’t our politicians do something about it… come on, its just more money in their pockets, more time wasting the citizens money while they consider some new law that will never work in order to simulate their (the politicians) employment. I don’t like politicians; a serious waste of my tax dollars.
Our system is broke, it is deceptive and it is corrupt. |

| The problem with politicians is that they set the birdfeeders up in other peoples yard and they never have to deal with the mess they make. They just care about their money and votes....working for the people my a$$ |

| I agree. I don't have a problem with hard working people who come to this country legally to make a better life for themselves and their families. That is how this country was founded and one of the things that makes it great.
It's the ones that come here illegally, have no intention of going through the legal system to become citizens and freeload off of the system that I don't like. And then they complain about their rights when they get caught.
A friend of mine came here from the Domincan Republic when he was 17. He came here legally, went to school to learn english, took citizenship classes and became a contributing member of his community. He did collect welfare for a short time but is now making a good living, sending his children to school and also has a hardworking wife. They taught thier kids to be respectfull and to work hard to get what they want. Two of his three kids are now in college and they are paying for every penny of it. And they fly an American flag in front of thier house, not a Dominican flag.
Of course that was some time ago. He's in his late 40's now. Things seem different today. Here in Massachusetts, our Governor wants to allow the DMV to issue driver's licenses to illegal imigrants. WTF! What ever happened to "driving is a privilage, not a right"? That's what I was always told and I was born here.
Whatever. That was my two cents. |

| Hey Maxpower, I couldn't agree more! That's the way it's supposed to be, not the way it is though...I am all for people like that! I like contributors, not sponges and leeches. My great grandparents came here from Italy, and the others from England (way back when.....like our ancestry goes back to the mayflower) as well as some American Indian. My grandparents always spoke English not Italian, and flew the American flag, served this country etc, etc. That was also "back in the day" though, ya know? (when people wanted to work for a living)
Ok, so your .02 and mine make .04 |

| Incindentally, my great grandparents came from the Azores. My grandfather spoke Portuguese and English but never taught Portuguese to my father or any of his kids. I often wish he had but they did it to eliminate as much predudice as possible. Not that this has anything to do with this thread.

Same with my family Max.... My grandparents came from the Netherlands, & only they spoke Dutch. My parents know a little just from being around my grandparents, but they were never taught as kids & my grandparents only spoke Dutch to eachother (usually when they didnt want anybody to know what they were talking about) My grandparents are dead now & ever since I was a teenager I have regretted never learning. I took German in school because it is close to Dutch & my Daughter is learning German now too, but its just not the same. One of these days I intend on visiting my Grandfather's home town (& home) Its funny how the generations have changed. My grandparents learned English so that they could fit in with the rest of society, & now days no immigrant learns English because they dont have to. I can understand not wanting to lose your heritage, but not to want to join the society you have chosen to live in by learning the language is bass ackwards. I would never move someplace where I couldnt speak the language, that would be just plain stupid. Maybe if we stop accomodating everybody, we'll get a better quality of "immigrant" |

| Nice thought Flyn, but it won't happen here. We're (our politicians) too busy giving everyone what they want and cry for. Hell, most of the signage in this country is in 2 languages now! (That pisses me off!!) |

| Hey Dutchman...my wife works for a company that's based out of the Netherlands. Not sure if it's true, but she heard if you move to the Netherlands you have 90 days to start learning Dutch. If after 90 days you are not actively enrolled in a class to learn the language you must leave the country. |
