| .....that is apparently what our legislators think of us here in VA. How can you charge some "civil remedial fees" and others not? What happened to equal justice under the law (XIV Amendment)? Does the constitution mean anything to the legislators in VA? NO! This is nuts...I believe in keeping things above board and legal, as most do in the USA but raping over everyone for the actions of a few and then allowing the 'lovers' (out of state visitors) to slide by is a criminal act by our state (commonwealth) legislators! The money they collect is also basically graft for the courts system (judges and other thieving criminals) and the DMV - crooks! This form of government is what wars are fought over the injustice of..... These laws were enacted by lawyers for their own personal benefit - conflict of interest in its purist form! They cannot get away with this.....

| To Explain....
By Lindsey Roberts, 13News
Watch the report
A bunch of new laws take effect in Virginia on July 1, including many that could cost drivers a bundle.
Civil fees for things like running a red light, not using your turn signal and speeding are part of the new Dangerous Drivers law, designed to generate about $65 million for local roads.
"We all have to live by the law, but why double penalize us? It's almost like a double jeopardy thing," said Bill Newell.
For example, you’re found guilty of going 20 MPH over the speed limit. Not only will you pay the court fine – of up to $2,500 – you’ll have to pay an extra $3,000 in civil fees. That’s $1,000 a year for three years. If you don’t pay up, you can lose your license and might be sent to jail.

"I know very few people that have any idea what is going on," said Edith Edwards-Talbot, a defense attorney who deals with many traffic cases.
She admits she’ll get even more business, but she’s concerned about the burden the laws will put on the judicial system.
"Most people that have these fines, especially driving on a suspended license, they don't have the money to pay the fines or hire an attorney in many cases. This will only add to a downward spiral to get their license back. They may never get it back,” she said.
Judges are not allowed to reduce the civil fees and they don’t apply to out-of-state drivers.

Four other states impose civil fees in similar cases, but they’re not as expensive and they do apply to out-of-state drivers. |

thank god i live some where elase now....... but i do feel your pain.....

| The Governer of Viginia has also decided to apologize for slavery too. Maybe this is his way of raising money to pay restitution. |

| Dammit Ringo! You have hit the nail square on the head! Just doesn't make sense to look at it any other way!!! Our governor is another squinty eyed crooked lawyer politician. The 'restitution' is probably another way to line his and his buddies' pockets with a guaranteed pot full of money stolen (or basically looted) from the citizens of Virginia. What gets us citizens is how blatant this all is and how much it stinks of plain old thievery and GRAFT! They are legalizing graft to make themselves rich! The highways are paid for with the outlandish taxes on fuel, now they need another source of income for the same thing? BS! The highways are trash because there is nothing left of the appropriated funds now - why should we figure this will be different?
Oh How I loathe these politicians that lie, cheat and steal to make a living! All of them? We need a good house cleaning of the crooks in our states and federal government! Holy Crap!
Run for public office? Hell no, they've ruined it for everyone! Who but a crook would want to? Money and BJs are all that you can do in a public office anymore and while I don't condone either, I also need meaningful work to accomplish something....

I think we need a big R in this country and take down all these greedy whinning a##holes in the government. Gettin real tired of the over spending and waste that we foot the bill for. Our Governer has pretty much run Michigan into the ground. |

| For the love of fu*k and sweet sh*t, you have got to be kidding me! Civil remedies? WHAT the hell is that?! In Alberta, Canada, we have a victim of crime surcharge added to practically every fine, which is 15%... and I really don't have any problem with it. But this is minor compared to your "civil remedies" fine, which seems to be in excess of 100% of the original fine for an offence. UNBELIEVABLE! How can that possibly be justified? Something wrong there, boys... |

| Worked up? That ain't the half of it! We're friggin' sick and tired of this crap. The big 'R' is supposed to occur at each election but I don't believe in them anymore either. I vote in all elections, local and national and I'm amazed at what you hear that people want and how these elections come out. Here's one: where the hell did Jimmy Carter come from? He just showed up and got elected? BS! Watch the next national election - guess who? The USA's second black president! It's who the powers want - f*** the citizen!
Virginia has become so corrupt with crooked lawyers that it's a crap hole place to live anymore. There was a referendum in VA in the 60's on sales tax - if we voted for it the state would remove the income tax - they said - we now have BOTH! No justice and no truth anymore from our 'leaders'. They are all lying crooks.

Bill C. | Get ready for more of it.....How do you think we got carter ?? It was because people were knee jerking the whole Nixon-Ford thing.... The media's got the rest of the country thinking republicans screwed everything up again & because of it we're gonna elect another carter in '08. Yesterday I saw a bumper sticker on a car that said "Hate, lies, & greed - the Republican way" Now I'm not one to go around with political speech slapped on my ride but I thought that to be a little bit prejudiced...I mean talk about painting a group of people with a wide brush....but thats the way it is man...nothing but a bunch of hypocrites out there...pots callin the kettle black. |

| I have to say that it's kinda interesting that the guy behind that legislation in Virginia is the senior partner of a law practice that SPECIALIZES in dealing with the kind of tickets these new laws are gonna produce.
Can anyone say "vested interest"?
I think his name is Albo or Aibo or something like that....
