| I posted on another section of the board the other day about a girl pulling out in front of me. Well, today after work I headed down to the Harley dealer to pick up a part I ordered. Going past a gas station getting ready to turn up into the Harley shop when a Young kid in a raised Toyota 4X4 pickup came screaming out of the gas station and was heading across all 4 lanes, right into me. I came to a sliding stop right next to his door and all he could say is I'm sorry and then takes off. Man my Adrenalin level was a bit high.
I think I need louder pipes as the stock ones on my Springer are pretty quite. A guy I know has a set of fishtail pipes that are Sampson's. In looking at them there are no baffles inside. He told me that Sampson told him that the necked down portion of the pipe at the fishtail is where the back pressure comes from. It does get pretty small in that area. I put them on and they sound incredibly loud. Well I guess straight pipes will, but I'm afraid with straight pipes that I will loose torque and power. I also know that I will need a Race tuner or Power commander with them. Anyone know more about these Sampson pipes. |

| Don't run them with out some type of baffle , I have A set of those pipes came off A friend's 00 Road King 95 IN he ran it loud & proud (deales installed the 95 kit Just before he bought the bike ) So it was covered , He got it broke in & change the pipes & After about 10 months he had to put the stock pipes back on & have the dealer pick it up they had to rebuild it , & other then running it like he stole it, he always had fresh oil in it ,
I would try to make some thing along the lines of the Big City Thunder baffles , that go in the exit end of the header pipe , you'll get enough BP & sound a bit better
If you have EFI on the springer you will need to get it remaped |

| glad he missed ya, thats why I got the pipes you had new ones arn't loud enough, by the way they sound good. bike was running a little rich already and kept the stock filter in until I go for the full blowen 95" so far it seems to run fine and no discoloration or popin. and it does bring attention to me. may keep me out of a jam. might start carrying a 16-20 oz ball peen if they put you that close you can show them the near miss with a big ol goon in their fender. |

| Glad you like the pipes Ironhorse. A ball-peen hammer sounds like a good idea. I remember my dad caring a sawed off baseball bat on his bike. I guess he used it a couple of times to. God, even people back in the 50's drove like cra@. Just to many of them now. We need the draft to thin em out. OK, all non-motorcycle riders line up here, women included |
